Castlevania: Nocturne fires on just about every cylinder it needs to. Action, horror, and period-specific turmoil coalesce in a sequel series of comparable quality to the first season of Castlevania.
It's fine. It starts out slow, but I was vibing with it by the end. Definitely not as good as the original series and the departure of Warren Ellis definitely shows. Richter does take some time to get used to, and it really wasn't until episode 6 that I liked him. Maria was initially annoying, though I did like the story with the Abbot and that there are consequences for her actions. Same goes for Annette, who while better than Maria definitely has a bunch of moments that are dumb. While the main villain was pretty boring, the secondary villains like Olrox and the Abbot were well written characters. The ending is very strong, with the heroes in a really bad place, and I was really excited when (spoiler showed up). Overall somewhat inconsistent pacing wise with noticeably inferior characters to the original series, but not as terrible as some people online are making it out to be. Here's to hoping season 2 can build on what worked for this season.
Castlevania: Nocturne is an exemplary way to take a popular game series and turn it into one of the most exciting animated adaptations yet. It remains to be seen the heights that animated Richter Belmont will reach, but we’re confident we’ll be left impressed.
The most interesting parts of the show come toward the back half of the season, when characters like Erzebet are introduced or long-lost family members make an appearance — but leading up to that, the team is rather aimless at times.
First episode good good, then **** happens. Woke agenda comes in and it ruins the party. Please, just write a interesting and fun show, dont preach us, i dont care. I just want to watch a **** vampire killer and friends killing things, getting new toys to kill vampires, getting new info about killing vampires. Its not that hard.
Black good check
**** everywhere check
Religius people bad check
revolutionary childish script check
It's really a shame such a good series that was the first series, became this
The first did have some woke stuff, but they maintained themain story and the relantionship between Trevor and Sypha the main story
Here the main story is how **** awesome this girls are specially the one that have nothing to do with the games!
Honestly had very high expectations for this going in. What else could you expect after advertising it? The first series was a landslide from start to **** this? Trash. The graffics are beautiful but the cinematography is all over the place; choppy and changing camera angles constantly. It’s distracting, unpleasant, and takes away from the magnificent work of the artists who’d animated for the series. No I had expected the time jump because that is what the games did but my knowledge stops there. I have no other knowledge of the games but as a gamer, there is a glaring difference between the two generations of series. The first, you could see how the level scaling, power scaling, armor/weapon upgrades, and even looting was not only acknowledged but made fun of through out the series. It was a great touch that wasn’t over done to isolate non-gamers in any way. This however, I couldn’t see a single bit. It was all politics and racial bickering from start to finish. Granted, I will acknowledge that the era of history held a great value of these topics but it completely undermines this FICTIONAL story. If I wanted to watch a period piece, I would have. Les Miserales is a wonderful classic to start with, which has MUCH better singing (even if it’s Hugh Jackman trying to carry a note out of his range). What I signed up for was vampires, demons, magicians, monster hunters descended from our favorite characters from the last season and, MOST OF ALL, I was hear for the under-the-breath, off-the-wall, wtf statements made by the characters. The last series dragged audiences in, making them laugh, cry, and hope along with the characters at every step. This? I’m looking forward to all of these useless characters to die. They shouldn’t, because that’s not the story, but Netflix has already buried that in an old manure pile so what would they care now? To put this review simply, if you loved the original Castlevania series, don’t watch this. It will not hold up. If you want to watch a French Revolution period piece, go watch Les Miserales, it’s significantly better. This series is boring as it gets. It’s frustrating and not even watchable because all of the camera flipping will give you a headache. The singing is awful, especially after referencing the opera. The combat is the only thing that’s kind of working for it, and that’s only when the artists focus on the fight and not focusing on specific characters faces in the middle of a fight. The characters are unrelatable and ignorant. Everything about them is forced and there isn’t a scrap of wit amongst the lot. You’ll spend the entire series waiting for it to start after Julia dies, realize you have no idea what’s going on when you can stand the camera angles for 30secs, then realize you don’t care and just continue to hope the story will start soon. This has been a colossal disappointment. The original team should have been the ones to work on this. And the director, story writers, and project managers for this series all need a solid slap to the face. Because that is exactly what they gave all of us in the audience with this god awful series. They only barely did better than the hallmark director fresh out of college that mutilated the Wheel of Time series, and that is only because of the artists work. Clearly these directors all graduated from the same class since none of them can seem to produce a decent story. Talk about using other people’s work to make a few coins, bunch of plagiarists.
