As with the first season, the stories keep tiptoeing up to cliché before shuffling into more interesting and complicated emotional territory.
The show’s curiosity about what motivates decency--and what accounts for its absence--ends up giving it a quiet but unshakable power, and its sensible and straightforward vibe lends dignity to what is, at its core, a tale of stoic endurance.

Watched this on us telly, it were reet **** that's enough cod Yorkshire-ese,...this is a fabulous police procedural that shows just how dark the underbelly of your average town can be. All hail Sarah Lancashire!

SEASON 2
The stakes are often high in Happy Valley, but it makes even the nuisance aspects of policing seem vital (and perversely entertaining).

Revisiting the series and overcoming the early obstacles was, indeed, rewarding. Not every plot twist is original or even believable, but the second season only solidifies how impressive the whole Happy Valley world is.
The second season of Happy Valley is less intense but more polished than the first, and still a superior example of the crime drama that focuses more on the people than on the crime.
Liked the first season, liked the second season. Felt they wrapped it up too quickly after having plenty of time, the ending kinda was sprung on you. Nevertheless enjoyable television. Would watch a third season.
