Great show! I hope it continues for years. I love the characters and his under-boss is the funniest one of all. It has drama, comedy, suspense, everything anyone would want in a show.
Spoiler alert
I love season three. Some of the luster has worn off, but I still love this show. The characters portrayed by the native folk continue to be the more compelling characters, and Sopranos fans might also find the occasional homage moment one of which is too good to spoil here. Jan's muslim character is outrageously funny and Emmy worthy. The only criticism I have is that if I looked like Giovanni, I would not attract the same young women.
Once a good and entertaining show. Now it`s just one more series in the American style. More violence more stereotypes and less brains. The essence of the show is gone the remains just assemble the form of the previous funny and innovative format. If you want to watch this season and you have the time watch or re watch the Sopranos oe even Boardwalk Empire they have what is now missing, content.
The show lost its way. It's as if season 3 was assembled from a garbage heap of gratuitous violence. Did Lilyhammer jump the shark? You bet. So many plot devices, one- (or no-) dimensional characters, unwatchable moments. The most sympathetic character turns psycho. What happened, writers, did you get tired, alcohol-fatigued? So disappointing. Couldn't get past episode 3.
Having been a big fan since day one, the show seems to have gone to pieces literally this last season. Complete lack of focus, rubbish plots, the writers seem to make it up as they go along! Something that was once fresh, offbeat with the hilarious clash of civilisations (New-York/Lillehammer) and the great Steve Van Zandt (who's still great but does what he can with such thin scripts) has become tedious, boring, out of focus so much so that I've been looking at my watch almost every single episode of this sorry season, wondering every time if there was a point to all this. Very disappointing. If they're planning a 4th season, I hope they get their act together and produce something as refreshing and worthwhile as the first season.
Terrible writing now replaced with lots of swearing, brutality and pure strangeness. Liked seeing Bruce. Did you switch writers????? Not good. Please go back to what you had in Season 1!!
Season 3 is a huge disappointment -- stopped watching after three episodes. More like a dumb American TV sitcom now, and the show has lost the essential humor of the clash between American/mob culture and Norwegian culture. The writers and directors just lost their way or stopped making the effort, and it's a shame. I loved the first two seasons, but not this one.
