It’s a set-up that leads to one of the most humanist shows I’ve seen in a while, truly spotlighting the unique energy of its ensemble in a way that suggests real love is involved.
As Ozzie’s empathy for the group’s misfits grows, so does the show’s, and the supporting characters, including Ana Gasteyer, who plays the group’s empathetic leader, develop into more than mere punchlines.
This is a fantastic show, I love it. It's funny, warm and uplifting. It's about outsiders trying to find acceptance and support, with the added twist of everything happening amidst possible alien invasion. It's hilarious, I hope there are many more seasons to come.
This is my favorite new TV show. Funny, original, and at times deeply emotional. They aren't just goof ball weirdo's to laugh at. These are people suffering, and yet the show still keeps the comedy of life at its heart
People of Earth has built a small-town universe with just enough quirks and intrigue to keep its premise in play. It has both heart and a sense of the absurd, making it increasingly “accessible” with the proviso that you’re just not going to get a laugh riot.
Instead of ridiculing the abductees, the show is a surprisingly earnest look at a group of lonely oddballs struggling with hazy but traumatic memories. But both its humor and its more serious themes feel undernourished, and the end result is a comedy that, despite its potential, feels slight.
I had an account before but it messed up and here is my review of people of earth ok first off DO NOT TAKE THE SHOW SERIOUSLY AT ALL second all u really need to enjoy this is a good sence of humor and a ability to laugh its very very funny but i recomend for mature teens and up due to strong sexual humor at times and swearing can get out of hand as well but its well worth a watch i say defenetly watch this one
I love this show. It's amazing. I laughed through the whole first episode. It's got everything: self help groups, reptilians, sleek corporate geeks with stand up desks, and of course, alien abductions.
People of Earth is a great show with intelligent and genuinely creative writing that keeps getting funnier as the season progresses. Wyatt Cenac's performance hits it out of the park, and he joins the ranks of the most distinguished The Daily Show alums.
Well, this show turned out to be quite the surprise.
A refreshingly original and enjoyable comedy, one of the best new comedy shows that I have seen in a long while. Yeah, sadly, it's been a while since a new comedy show has caused me to have some good laughs.
The premise of the show is a simple one. The writing and character development hits it out of the park. I really enjoy the scenes aboard the space ship. They are a hilarious parody of office comedies.
The characters in the self-help group are diverse, yet they seem to somehow mesh. I think that speaks excellently for the writing.
I even enjoy watching the promotional ads for this show, and I *always* skip ads on my DVR. But I find myself backing up and playing the promo if I happen to catch the tail-end of it coming out of a commercial break.
I find myself always looking forward to the next episode.
This is a good, fun show.
Although very new, seems to be doing well at introducing the characters. Not written as sarcastic or silly. Low-key humor with an eye towards staying with the established dogma of alien abduction. Wyatt Cernic is doing an excellent job in the lead. I look forward to each new episode to see how the story progresses.
