Each episode of Planet Sex has a different balance of informative vs. playful, but it never strikes an off-color tone. Delevingne seems both excited and curious to speak with all of the show's participants. What’s more, she’s intent on changing public perception of the topics that she covers—even if it’s in her signature, outlandish style.
Delevingne, in other words, is here to see and do everything the viewer can’t. To her credit, she’s a sparky, funny, natural presence. ... Those who don’t find her millennial restlessness stimulating might well find it grating, or – worse – a total turn-off. That would be a pity, as there are segments of interest in every instalment, whatever your leanings, however you identify.
Well, I'm sure it's very interesting and stuff but I only lasted 20 minutes. My problem was all these shots of Delevingne being quirky or whatever. I have nothing against her but I don't know why the editor/producers/director think I wanna see the presenter pull faces and swish her hair around. Basically I was expecting much more information per minute so all that BS was just insufferable.
Alas, this documentary seems to just be about hating straight men. Cara keeps saying the phrase 'objectification of women' as if it's something evil, then totally turns a blind eye when **** men do it to each other.
The message here is clear: straight men = bad
Everyone else = good
Also, why are straight men painted as only being into hyper aggressive, borderline **** scenes involving school girls? Or into Hentai? That is false. In fact, that stuff turns me off completely.
Personally, I genuinely like erotic, interesting, intimate, grown up porn, usually with women above the age of 30. I, as an evil straight man, get turned on by seeing those women turned on and into it.
I get VERY turned OFF if I feel a woman is in any way uncomfortable or doing something against her will. So, I shouldn't be made to apologise for terrible porn just because I'm straight. But, in amongst 'THE MESSAGE' Cara does ask Porn to be more appealing to our emotions, and represent something more human and 'ethical'.
That feels good to see and hear.
It is not a series designed to dig deep into these issues, but it is rare that they are even touched upon as part of a grand sweep such as Planet Sex, and along with Delevingne’s unexpectedly strong presenting skills and directness, it lifted the whole. I love this for us.
Despite our reservations about Delevingne as the host of Planet Sex With Cara Delevingne, the show manages to cover a lot of ground and still be informative about topics we thought we already knew a lot about.
There were more "Oka-a-a-y" moments, such as when Delevingne said: "I have only once spent about an hour making love to myself. I cried." But there was also much that was genuinely educational, not least that during climax human bodies produce a cannabis-like substance. Still, I did wonder if the ones who could really do with a female biology lesson, ie men, would have bothered to watch.
It is actually educational in places, explaining sexuality and desire, but I suspect it will also titillate a wider audience. Really, they should have just cut out the planet and called it Sex with Cara Delevingne, because you’ll pretty much feel like that’s what you’ve had after watching it.
Despite flashes of silliness and fun, Planet Sex manages to be neither. If your sole exposure to queer culture is Target Pride Month crop tops and Nathan Lane in The Birdcage, Planet Sex may very well be revelatory. For many of us, however, it’s something of a joyless slog through a subject that should very much be the opposite.
I can’t take her seriously after all the drugged out behavior and sleeping around with everyone in town including Jonny Drop’s ex monster. I expect to take advice from sane human beings, who are a pilar in a community, are mentally healthy, respect themselves and others, not a cra(khead who sleeps around with married people, in and out of rehabs and can’t behave in public. She should spend a few years building schools for the needy, wells with fresh water or something else to show for and redeem herself. Riding on a coattail of lgbtq+ community, while she never did one thing for them or used her popularity to fight their battles is disgusting. Now that she got cancelled, she feels she can use the community to gain popularity. Please sit down. Nobody cares about what you have to say.
This series focuses on being antimale, antimasculinity and this is why men of today dont want relationships with women. It is ugly, hateful vapid misandry and spends most of the time with useless drivel and snarky feminists putting everyone down
The English and sex! Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. As a continental European I can't help but smile patronizingly. Spending hours commenting on a topic, where all talk is really ...no action. Narcissism and Onanism are really the two faces of the same coin...valued by fools who don't understand anything about real love and beauty.
