It’s a complicated blend of so many interesting and competing ideas, a docuseries worth watching, especially for any organization even considering getting involved in a society other than their own.
Filmmaker Jackie Jesko’s disinclination to paint Bach as a bloodthirsty butcher or her detractors as heroic racial-justice crusaders is sure to rankle some viewers. But what emerges instead are revelations more astute and more disturbing, forged in a crucible of race, religion, money, and global politics.
It’s a thorny affair, and Jesko and her team know how to let the wounds breathe. Savior Complex never hits you over the head, though it certainly knows what to do when telling moments present themselves.
Directed by Jackie Jesko, “Savior Complex” provides an evenhanded account of the allegations against Bach.
