Chasing down medals will keep players busy for a while, but I imagine the constant competition for each track's World Record will keep them occupied for even longer.
Despite being easy to 'finish', unlocking all the levels and items is only the first half of the fun of Ionocraft Racing.
Aside from the lack of multiplayer or A.I., this game has room for improvement. I ran into severe performance issues on a couple tracks, seriously limiting my ability to race on them. I also ran out of new parts much too quickly. The customization is the coolest part of this game, so Fabrication Games should have gone nuts with it.
While other racers, or even a ghost car of your last lap, would improve the game, the thrill of building the best car and testing it out is enough to warrant a purchase.
Ionocraft Racing is a mixed bag to score. The first thirty minutes are really fun with a lot of customization. Then it turns to a lonely brown mess, and I lost my interest. This happens both on the iPhone, and on the iPad.
A classic example of pushing the hardware too far, Ionocraft Racing has an entertaining concept at its core but is let down badly by a stuttering frame-rate and a lack of rivals to race against.
