What saves the single-player are the challenges (which nevertheless get repetitive over time).
Brakes are for Losers is a fun throwback to the racing games of yore. Fans of RC Pro Am or Super Sprint ought to feel right at home once they stop freaking out about having a basic racing control pulled out from under them. Single player has a number of good modes for practicing, but the game really comes to life in multiplayer. If you are like me and are constantly on the lookout for local multiplayer titles, this is an inexpensive way to add a fun title to your library.
BAFL is flawed, strangely in ways that could’ve been easily patched up. What’s there at its foundation is strong, though, with a good palette of gameplay choices. You'll be done with your hour-or-more sessions in an afternoon, but it's priced with this in mind. Beyond that, the time trials give it what I’m going to call intermittent longevity; it’s the type of game that sits on your menu, playable in less than a minute, just begging you to improve upon your last score. Some additional options and visual tweaks would’ve served it immensely, but all the same, BAFL is worth a look.
It might not be too ambitious but its fun and simple gameplay is definitely something that will immediately grab the player's attention and allow for a few hours of fun. Unfortunately it can get too simplistic and as a consequence, it will end up driving players away too soon.
For a fiver, BAFL - Brakes Are For Losers does grant you a fun time. That fiver just doesn’t take you very far.
Brakes Are For Losers is like a toy you find in a Happy Meal. A cheap distraction good for a few minutes of entertainment. It’s not meant to be played on its own. Instead, it is at best the sort of game that you mess around with for ten minutes while cooling off between sessions with meatier games. BAFL is reasonably fun, but a novelty at best.
Brakes Are For Losers lives up to the promise of being a totally different kind of racer, but sadly these differences are all too often more infuriating than they are fun.

Summary BAFL is a tribute to Old School Arcade Racing Games such as Super Sprint or Indy Heat. It offers challenging solo and multiplayer fun for up to 8 players.
