This game is fun. You'll spend your first hour figuring out how to navigate the UI, the world, and how to not get eaten. After that, you'll start really exploring, stockpiling weapons and other supplies, and spending xp on character upgrades. If that gets monotonous, don't worry! There's a lot of PKing, new places to explore, and various server types.
I'm at about 12 hours in, and I'm still having a blast.
Pros:
An enjoyable variety of guns and melee weapons. The Shank (scissors and duct tape) is a serviceable 2-hit-kill weapon, but you have all kinds of options like golf clubs, katanas, shovels, police batons, and The Brotherhood (a broom handle with a bunch of butcher's knives attached to the top).
The PvE setup isn't too easy as to become boring, but not impossibly hard. The PvP can be a lot of fun. If you kill, it will make it less frustrating when you get killed.
There's a LOT of servers to choose from. You can get in to a super-populated one, or try to go it alone.
Cons:
Still in Dev, you might find yourself kicked from the server at awkward times (like in the middle of picking up a bunch of swag).
Melee vs. Zombies can get iffy when there's a bunch of them. Destroyed zombies will continue to soak up hits as they fall, protecting the ones behind them. It makes sense, but isn't intuitive in play.
The world is big, and you run slow (and you have to take breaks to regain stamina). It can take a LONG time to get from one place to another, and most of the spaces between zones are completely zombie-free and loot-free. So, just big stretches of holding the run button, watching your stamina drain... so much time...
Cons:
1) It's a free to play game.
2) It's more or less the same game called 'Infestation: Survivor Stories Classic.' Same UI, same weapons/animations, etc.
3) They have 'Counter Strike' like skins in the game to buy for weapons and barricades.
4) In order to change screen resolutions from "Full Screen, Yes or No," you need to restart the game. Full Screen window mode isn't added in.
5) Steam overlay isn't supported.
In the middle:
1) Battle Royale servers, sadly it's only available for Premium users.
Pros:
1) Better FPS? I get around 100+ FPS on Medium, while the original game only gave me like 40 - 50 FPS.
2) Decent graphics? It seems like it got a overhaul.
3) First 4 minutes into playing the game, someone got banned by the Anticheat client. Hackers/cheaters can finally get put to a stop?
4) Unlike the original game, you hit a zombie 10 - 14 with a flashlight and it dies. In this game, you do the samething but in 4 - 5 hits and the zombie dies.
Whoever remade this game could have easily renamed this to something else. No one liked Infestation.
Minuses:
- Playing without donate is impossible
- Very bad graphics, one poligon / mile
- Awful optimization (40 FPS on max in this game VS 60 FPS on medium in Crysis 3)
- Worst weapon modification: mods are removed if you move your gun into main inventory
- Hackers
- Unbalanced giant zombies, they can stay alive after three explodes and two hundreds bullets from machinegun
Pluses:
- Interesting gameplay
- Good interface design
- Free to play game (great for homeless and moneyless (for me))
- A lot of weapons
PROS
-fun theme
-nice weapons
-cool worlds
CONS
-weak goals make it less fun after some hours
-bugs such as enemies appearing from thin air and dropped items dissapearing on the ground if you turn arround for 0,5 seconds
-the weapon setup function and item interface is really bad, seem buggy to me
-the bugs make you wanna quit after some hours, it make the game pointless, time is money !
I never played the original game but I can see why it went free to play, it's terrible. I tried to like this game but I spent the majority of my time walking across the map as the cars in the game only spawn if you spend in game money, or pay a micro transaction. If you die in the game you have to wait 3 minutes to respawn or you can pay a micro transaction to get in quicker. It is more fun with friends (as most games are) but it's just not worth your time, go buy arma 2 and get the day z mod.
I love the genre. This game is free, unless you want to pay for something. It's addicting as hell, and I have spent a lot of time with it. That said, this is an utterly abysmal game. The frequent disconnects, freezing, glitching, and single digit frame rates make this a totally unplayable game. I could live with the horrible graphics, at least for now, if only the developers would address those other issues I just laid out. I don't know how many zombie games are out there, although I am aware of a few. However, I have been playing this since it first came out as WarZ. Incidentally, to those who say that this is a totally different game, I disagree. Yes, it has a new name. Yes, there are a couple of different zombies, and a few different modes of play. And, yes, there is a difference in the spawning of items, in that there are more. And I am sure, as time goes on, if this game lasts long enough, the devs will tweak things and change things up here and there. But with regards to the Survival mode and Open World, it is still pretty much the same, except for the aforementioned changes. The map is the same, the zombies are, from what I can see, pretty much the same, and the loot is pretty much the same, although there is more of it. The character(s) that you choose still move the same, and the clipping is also still present. Unfortunately, many of the issues that have plagued this game since its' original inception are still present as well. I don't see a bright future for this game unless the devs get serious and stabilize their game platform so the players can spend more time playing and less time trying to re-log back in. Until then, very few people will invest any real money into this, and only once, after experiencing actual play. I am hoping, but am not optimistic.
