ITALIAN:
Gioco estremamente ispirato a Life is Strange per grafica, colonna sonora, atmosfera e ****.
I had heard a lot of positive buzz about Marie’s Room and when many people said that it was similar to Life is Strange that was all I needed to give it a go. Truth be told it is more similar to Gone Home but I also love that game so I’m not complaining there. You have to look around Marie’s Room to find various objects to interact with. Each one will have your character giver her memories of it as well as give a journal entry in Marie’s journal that you can now read through to see how Marie remembered things. You are there trying to find clues about just what happened to your old friend Marie. The game is not a difficult one by any stretch, you have to solve a couple puzzles but mostly it is about exploring the story. The story is certainly something I enjoyed. It didn’t get political; try to beat you over the head with morality; or try to shock you. It just was a nice play by play of a friendship from twenty years prior that has a couple nice twists.
The graphics are not something that will make your jaw drop but they have a nice, almost cell shaded, style to them. You will be reading the journal mainly so it isn’t like you’ll be in a position to admire the graphics anyway. As well the game takes place in one room mainly so there isn’t a need for more. The soundrack was well done and did a good job setting the mood.
I played Marie’s Room on Linux. I used Lutris to play it using the Windows copy from ****. The game never crashed on me once. I didn’t notice any glitches or bugs during gameplay. The only issue I did notice ws that if I clicked on the credits from the main screen it only displayed a black screen. The game uses the Unreal Engine but I’m not sure which specific version. There is an option for Vsync, resolution and four graphics options. The game lacks a save option but it isn’t very long so I’ll give the developer some slack there. During gameplay my system RAM usage was 3.1GB; my CPU usage was 20-26%; my GPU usage was 92-98%; and my VRAM usage was 1.68-1.81GB.
I would easily recommend Marie’s Room to anyone who is a fan of games like Gone Home; Tacoma or The Station. It is a walking sim with some light puzzles that focusses on story. I finished the game in about 45 minutes. The game is free but I would have happily paid $10 for it.
My Score: 9/10

SummaryMarie's Room is a short-story exploration game about an unconventional friendship between two classmates, told through memories. You play as Kelsey, remembering Marie's room as it was 20 years ago. What happened to Marie and Kelsey all those years ago?
