A little puzzle game with some bright ideas. The way the puzzles and the interface are organized surprised us, as did many of the complex puzzles. Unfortunately the narrative component is quite poor, and makes it hard to get fully captivated by the experience.
Monumental isn’t a bad game. It’s just a badly made game. I think that somewhere in here was a really genuine idea at heart, and looking at its page on the Steam store, that is so obvious. The world design is actually pretty nice but the game itself is plagued by buggy mediocrity and dull audio design. I wouldn’t recommend Monumental, but I think something amazing could have come from it. Clear away the bugs, dust off the boredom and you might have had something worth playing here.
While the story behind the Mandrake Facility staff’s disappearance is engaging enough, the slow pace and technical issues make it a disjointed one to follow.
Monumental feels like an homage to the heyday of bad Myst clones that no one should be particularly nostalgic for.

Summary Monumental is a puzzle-exploration game set on an alien world. You are tasked with discovering the whereabouts of a group of lost researchers who were studying an ancient alien temple. In the process, you will solve the mysteries of the great Monument, and uncover the astonishing final secret of a long-dead alien race.
