Even if you're not the fan of the 18 wheelers, do yourself a favor and try this game. Nothing can replicate that peculiar feeling of driving across the States at 4AM while your radio is tuned to "Road to hell".

American Truck Simulator scratches the exact same itch that Elite: Dangerous does. While they’re vastly different games, both evoke a sense of the wide open road, of the perfect road trip. Both give you freedom and put you in control of your own destiny and your own direction. Both are ridiculously compelling and they let you set your own pace.

Excellent successor of Euro Truck Simulator holds to proven concept and adds a few nice features but currently it suffers from an acute shortage of content. [Issue # 261]

Driving from A to B to C and back - it's a good job simulation with lots of atmosphere but also with room for improvement.

American Truck Simulator reflected the anxious reality, but also allowed me to appreciate the grandeur of it all. I can finally see what I presume most other Americans have always enjoyed: Endless waves of asphalt paved just for me, veining the contiguous southwest, begging to be casually traversed.

ATS will surely appeal to trucking veterans who are desperate to explore a fresh location, but for newcomers to the franchise, I implore you, go back and experience Euro Truck Simulator 2 first.

American Truck Simulator is not a completely new game. Despite whatever its developers say, this is just a big stand-alone expansion for Europe Truck Simulator 2, complete with the same engine, UI and all-too familiar problems.

I you compare ATS to the few years old DLC rich Euro Truck 2, you can say its small. But remember Euro Truck how did it start? Same small. Short review?

I wasn't very interested in Euro Truck Simulator at all, but so far with a skinned version Euro Truck to make American Truck Simulator, I have to say it's pretty fun and I'm loving it. It brings out the inner kid out of you when playing this because it feels like your playing on one of those mat floor city maps.

Workshop support; cab skins, trailer skins and other add-ons.

Red light stop bars? If you pass the stop bar by accident, you get fined.

Police? If a police car is on the other side of the highway and your speeding, you get fined.

AI? The car AI are stupid. They randomly press their brakes when they don't need to like old people in real life. Why?

World of Trucks? Online support, statistics and get custom missions.

Note: If you want to play with friends or go Online. You need to download 'Truckers MP.'

I would say, I'd love to support this game further long. But someone stated that all future states will cost money individually? Why? Why not have a State Pass so you can pay a one time fee for all the states? Paying for each one is pretty ridiculous. I can easily pay $20 for the State Pass and nothing more at this time.

TL;TR - Workshop support, red light stop bars are stupid, car AI are stupid, police are stupid, it has World of Trucks support and it needs a State Pass, but overall, it's a fun game for the 3 States it currently has.

Road network could be a bit more complex, but at the current state still has enough places to see after multiple hours. Map expansions could be released more often, as there happen to be multiple time gaps where users have no new content. Some of the decorative DLCs could be also permanently bundled up in order to make DLC store much more organised (ETS2 has the same issue after all). However, none of the above make the game less enjoyable in any way - it's really fun, easy to get into and light experience.

America, the release of the game, which is good. But a lot of American simulator - bad and not modified.
The heavily scaled-down maps are the worst thing in games, especially when it comes to real-world terrain.
Station scales of cargo - I do not see indicators of my checks on weight!? This is only a model and nothing more.
Police - model and simulation. There is no prosecution of offenders, and it is necessary to a complete stop and issue a fine.
There are many large and famous cities, small map scale and precise construction of highways in some places.

This game still needs many of the big improvements. I believe this is an early release and we had to weigh everything before release is not in full objective game.
