In the near future the Earth's surface has become uninhabitable. What remains of humankind lives in former mining and research stations, deep below the surface of the sea. Born and raised in the only world we know, the loose network of underwater settlements, torn by the war for resources and dominance between various factions.

Take control of a team of highly trained fighter pilots and experience an epic story in the dark world of Aquanox. Send your enemies down to Davy Jones's Locker with well-aimed torpedoes, mortars, mines and more. Explore the deepest corners of the oceans -- mysterious, hazardous, uncharted.

Submarines, Bionts, Dystopia and shooty shoots, what’s not to love? Buy this, slap on your cowboy hat, and stick some Linda Ronstadt on as you drive “every kind of rig that’s ever been made” in the deep blue.

A very solid entry in the genre by Digital Arrow that narrowly misses on true greatness due to some small missteps. A bit more attention to detail, better enemy AI and higher production values would have hugely benefited an otherwise very enjoyable action/simulation game.

With its interesting setting, engaging story, great combat mechanics, and tons of customization options, Aquanox Deep Descent is a more than worthy new entry in the classic series. Bland mission design and a repetitive structure does damage the experience a bit, but all those that enjoy dogfighting games, no matter where they take place, will find plenty to like in the game.

As a first project for Digital Arrow, Aquanox Deep Descent can be considered a good game, even though there are lots of issues regarding its combat and control system.

The underwater combat in Aquanox: Deep Descent certainly feels right, however the lousy enemy AI, the consequent generally low difficulty, and several naiveties in the gameplay formula do not allow the game to be enjoyable from start to finish. It doesn't help that the plot and dialogue writing is abysmal. The end result is unfortunately an all too generic, sometimes soporific, submarine shooter.

The return of the legendary underwater shooter isn’t as stunning as it could have been. The fights are difficult and a lot of fun, but the missions themselves are quite boring - as is the loot and the environment.

Aquanox Deep Descent isn't a bad game - it's just not that great, either. Earlier this year, when THQ Nordic released Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, the game was well-received because players knew what to expect. In that right, THQ Nordic had succeeded in reviving a long-forgotten cult classic title. With Aquanox Deep Descent, THQ Nordic has attempted to resurrect an entire franchise with a brand new title, but the total package feels outdated and fails to stay afloat in today's diverse sea of video games.

If you contextualize the game, this is not planned to be AAA nor the publisher had that kind of approach. So, for the AA its very good, playable and enjoyable game. I think its going to be underestimated title but it found the way into my heart, for sure. Expand

This is an action game with terrible combat and poor writing. Okay for a 2010 independent title, but not a 2020 game with a famous name attached.
