    Really good game. Most of the complaints come from people who have petty complaints, and didn't play long enough to understand the gameplay loop

    Dark Devotion delivers an excellent level of soul-like gameplay. Combat is tough and challenging, as you would expect, but yet easy to progress into. Visuals are amazing and the play with light and darkness is really engaging.

    I follow the game since July 2018 so i can see its impressive development. Dark Devotion is a wonderful game. The gameplay is not very difficult but very exigent. When you know enemies's movement, it's easy to advance in the game. But each mistake is punished and your game can be turn out suddenly, with checkpoint it's fair and balanced. The 2D pixel art is incredible as sound design andI follow the game since July 2018 so i can see its impressive development. Dark Devotion is a wonderful game. The gameplay is not very difficult but very exigent. When you know enemies's movement, it's easy to advance in the game. But each mistake is punished and your game can be turn out suddenly, with checkpoint it's fair and balanced. The 2D pixel art is incredible as sound design and story is very pleasant to read. Level are stated but the plurality of path offer to us a large choice and an enjoyable replayability. Furthermore the devs are very kind and listen closely player's feedback to resolve problems.… Expand

    Great game 2d style souls_like , good story and amazing visuals,to me this game is a work of art.

    There's nothing new in the game, a lot of games like hollowknight and salt and sanctuary do better, but still isn't a bad game, its fun and have a tons of epic bosses !

    A lot of fun to play, really good experience and progression is great. Pixel art is amazing and the story is solid. 10/10. I really enjoyed my time playing it so far, and looking forward for the next sessions!Great great game.
    Better than most games coming out those days.

    Игра Dark Devotion, я её ждал, и если вкратце, ожидания она оправдала, правда лишь частично.
    Итак, плюсы:
    + Стилистика, графика и анимации - все это взял за одно, всё выполнено на отличном уровне + Боссы - в игре есть несколько хороших боссфайтов + Музыка - тут нечего добавить, почти во всех современных инди играх отличный саундтрэк + Истории из библиотеки - возможно слишком    Игра Dark Devotion, я её ждал, и если вкратце, ожидания она оправдала, правда лишь частично.
    Итак, плюсы:
    + Стилистика, графика и анимации - все это взял за одно, всё выполнено на отличном уровне
    + Боссы - в игре есть несколько хороших боссфайтов
    + Музыка - тут нечего добавить, почти во всех современных инди играх отличный саундтрэк
    + Истории из библиотеки - возможно слишком субъективно, но мне они были достаточно интересны( хотя собрал я едва ли треть, а то и меньше)
    С плюсами на этом всё, теперь минусы:
    - Баланс предметов - в игре есть много типов оружия, предметов в сумки, магии, однако баланса во всем этом нет, один или пара типов оружия/комбинация/предметы сильно доминируют над остальными (я так за всю игру и не понял силы копий и кинжалов)
    - Боссы, в игре есть *спойлер* 17 боссов, однако сложных среди них не наберётся и 7-8. Некоторые боссфайты так вообще проходятся с 1 попытки 1 рукой (*спойлер* привет, королева), а на некоторых тратишь по 30-40 минут

    - Стимул изучать мир - в игре, как я уже писал выше, есть библиотека и разбросанные по миру записочки-истории, однако, даже учитывая, что мне они понравились, собирать их специально мне было абсолютно не интересно, никакой награды за это не давалось (хотя, возможно, это я тупой). Также в игре реализована система прокачки посредством открытия рун по карте, однако, учитывая сложность 90% живности и боссов в игре, смысла этого делать нет: я не прокачал даже половины навыков и прошел игру без проблем.

    Что можно сказать в итоге? Я ожидал от игры чего-то сложного, бросающего вызов, а получил просто интересную и местами сложную игрушку, как говориться: ваши ожидания - это ваши проблемы. Притом замечу, что я не какой-то суперхардкорнаякиберкотлета, тот же Hollow knight в своё время дался мне тяжело.    … Expand

    It's hard to believe that a French indie studio with a budget of €30,000 could produce a quality ARPG like Dark Devotion. Hibernian Workshop proves that when an excited fan base partners with a passionate developer great things can happen. Although the narrative in Dark Devotion is simple, it is still a great game. Fans of the brutal souls-like genre and rogue-likes will feel right atIt's hard to believe that a French indie studio with a budget of €30,000 could produce a quality ARPG like Dark Devotion. Hibernian Workshop proves that when an excited fan base partners with a passionate developer great things can happen. Although the narrative in Dark Devotion is simple, it is still a great game. Fans of the brutal souls-like genre and rogue-likes will feel right at home. The often punishing but frequently rewarding challenge that Dark Devotion offers is an unusually deeper experience than most games. When you combine its variety of gameplay, polish and cost it is difficult to find a better value on the market for a new release. There is no doubt in our minds that Hibernian Workshops debut will be the first of many exciting games and we cannot wait to get our hands on their next project.

    If you like 2D, Rougelike, Souls and Pixelart you will have a lot of fun for about 6-8 hours. After that it's starts to become boring. Rogue progress is imens, so it becomes easier and easier. Nice motivation!

    One of the hidden gems across the PC souls like games.
    Beautiful concept, amazing bosses, hard but fun gameplay.
    Maybe one tiny con is that gamepad support is not that amazing, but overall the controls are great.

    Epic world building, simple yet fun gameplay, great vibes. A great game for it's price range.

    With its focus on treacherous exploration, along with its unique look and world, Dark Devotion delivers an incredible experience for hardcore gamers to enjoy.

    Dark Devotion presents a rather refreshing cocktail of different genres and games that only an indie developer would have the courage to try. Its pixel art, done nicely and with a lot of attention to details, presents a morbid and dark setting. Only issues come to inconveniences regarding controls, no jump and return options.

    Hard as hell, Dark Devotion is a roguelike with some touches of Dark Souls and a huge number of curses that will make you enjoy and suffer at the same time. A really hard experience.
