Everything we loved about old RPGs in a complete, modern package. It's hard, it's well thought out, there's tons of options and most importantly, tons of fun. [Issue#244]

Certainly, I have no hesitation in recommending Original Sin to RPG fans old and new, provided that you're up for a challenge from very early on and don't expect to romp through, Diablo-style.

The classic RPG is making a comeback. After Shadowrun and Wasteland 2, this time it’s Divinity: Original Sin’s turn. This Kickstarter project from Belgium shows how fantasy elements can be used to their fullest extent. These developers understand what’s so great about magic and discovering a world. This is a tribute to the best Bioware, Obsidian, and D&D games that were produced with pen and paper over the last thirty years, had to offer.

Divinity: Original Sin is able to both channel the roots of its old-school RPG ancestors such as Ultima and Baldur’s Gate, while also improving the genre as a whole in the process. From start to finish, Divinity: Original Sin is an incredible experience that is full of deep and engaging roleplaying. The true turn-based combat is a breath of fresh air in an industry obsessed with quick satisfaction and it brings you back to a time of tactics and thought. The roleplaying potential presented in quests and dialogue options puts Divinity: Original Sin decidedly above its peers in most aspects, but leaves room for improvement down the line. Larian Studios is on a strong path to returning their long-running franchise to the spotlight, for fans both new and old.

It feels like there’s a very good game inside Divinity: Original Sin, but it’s hidden away behind a thousand glitches and gameplay problems.

Best RPG to come out in years; I have experienced none of the bugs people seem to complain about.

It doesn't particularly surprise me that the great fans of Dragon Age and Fallout 3+ aren't into this; those games were pretty good, but they held your hand and did so very hard. This does not at all; it's combat is brutally hard without the use of tactics and it gives you no indicator whatsoever where to go for your quests. Questing in it is far more akin to Baldur's Gate or Morrowind, and that's incredibly refreshing.

The dialog is funny and plentiful; it is not limited by having every single line voice acted. The systems it uses for combat are fairly intuitive if you have any experience with tabletop gaming. The quests are interesting. The world is interesting, and you can do more to manipulate it in the starting town then you can do for the entirety of the last 5 Bioware games you care to name.

Buy it if you love RPG's, get ready for a headache and being forced to re-examine how to play them if you love RPG's and are under 20 years old.

wow, great game. now im going to skip all the good things because you already know em.
    the "not so good things"
-the hardest part is from lvl 3 to lvl 7 (excluding some boss battles) after that its easier because jahan can heal every turn.
-if you clear all the places and do all the quest you will end at lvl 22 or 21. (the boss is lvl 20) so the final battle is long but easy if at least one of your crew has the right resistances.
-I didnt used the crafting because i felt it like a pain in the arse. because usually the different components where in different categories and i had A LOT of things in the backpack. and the crafting is not that important

excuse me if my english is not good

I am a little bit way the halfway mark, though I can say that despite the presence of general rpg tropes (chosen ones, save the world, insane baddy etc.), it is quite enjoyable. There is a lot of reading involved, so it is more planescape torment than dragon age in that regard. The best thing for me is the combat. It consist of incredibly deep, turn based combat, with a lot of choice in what you can do. I particularly like how you can use the environment to your advantage, and how you need to study your enemy to choose your tactics carefully. The only downside for me, is that there are only four additional companions, two of which were added after the game released. Some of the puzzles require a bit more time, which is okay, if you have some free time, but overall I am quite happy with the game. 8/10 Expand
