Last Day of June - Teaser Trailer
Aug 30, 2017Last Day of June is a narrative puzzle game that makes full use of a wide range of powerful emotive devices to make its point. Its fairly straightforward puzzles won't keep you up, scratching your noggin at night, but the effect of its wonderful characters and the love they have for one another will leave you feeling like you belong to something bigger than yourself.
Sep 14, 2017Last Day of June is an emotional roller coaster that explores the themes of love and loss in interesting ways. Its simple story is an effective showcase for the diverse and charming cast. Its puzzles serve as fun palate cleansers that, despite their easiness, guide the narrative from start to finish. The stingy auto-save might have caused me some grief and an hour of lost progress, but that shouldn't deter fans of the genre from giving it a try. Be sure to keep an eye out for that pencil-and-paper symbol!
Aug 30, 2017Last Day of June is a bittersweet, pastel colored shot of a story about loss, grief and dedicated love. A successful mix of Ovosonic's artistic vision and Steven Wilson's haunting, melancholic tunes. As such, it provides a storytelling-based experience, with a nice touch of time-tweaking mechanics.
Sep 6, 2017There is a deep sense of melancholy in Last Day of June, created through narrative tension and player resignation to seeing the same cutscene for the fifth time. Its solid story and dreamy visuals are the game’s saving graces in the end, through the repetition kept me from being completely drawn into its magic — a tragedy unto itself.
Nov 17, 2017Without much words or lengthy conversations, Last Day of June tells a compelling story about destinies, dreams and loss that surround its protagonist Carl. The game needs more work in some technical and visual aspects, but I gotta hand it to the developers from Ovosonico — they know how to work with emotions.

At first, I thought it was going to be a straightforward game, but it was a little bit more than that. To summarize it, Carl, the main character is trying to change the outcomes of various situations for one final bigger outcome. I don't want to give away ANY spoilers. However, the reason why my review isn't a 10/10 is only because there are many scenes (especially one scene in particular) that are repeated. Once you've seen it after the third time you're gonna want to be able to wish to skip it. Personally, I think that it was still worth it in the end. Just maybe have some tissues nearby.… Expand

A Beautiful Story
Last Day of June is a narrative focused adventure game where you play as multiple charcters in a town on the same day
After spending the day on the lake with your wife
on your way home a child who goes to retrieve his ball from the road causes you to swerve and crash
This puts you in a wheelchair and your wife is now dead.
So you go through paintings to go back in time to stop this
first playing as the boy…
The goal of the game is to know the outcome and trigger events to stop it from happening
so youll be running around the world trying to stop this boy from going into the road for example at first..
But preventing this will cause another problem for you to go back and fix.. causing a bit of a butterfly effect so youll be playing as 4 characters in this town on the same day trying to make sure everyones day goes perfect, that nothing could possibly go wrong so that you can get your wife home safe…
The game in turn is one giant puzzle, it will have you unlocking paths with characters to have to fail on purpose to only go back in time as the other characters you’ve already played as to now have a different fate so that other characters can use items that they needed
until finally you have the perfect balance of outcomes..
it’s a really enjoyable game of problem solving with a beautiful story of a man willing to do whatever it takes to save his wife
The gameplay isn’t ground breaking, and frustratingly you cant skip scenes you’ve already scene…
When you do go back to play as characters thankfully the game will start where you need to be to make a different choice and not force you to play through that characters entire day again…
but you have to watch how their day plays out over and over even if you know youre messing things up on purpose for the time being just to free an item for someone else
This is really my only complaint with the entire game…
The rest of it I loved
the story is told through mumbles,
but will still touch your heart
I give Last Day of June
a 7.5/10… Expand

I'm disappointed because I was expecting a game with the depth of What Remains of Edith Finch, but it doesn't get even close.
The design of the game could fit an aesthetic game (essentially, walking simulators). The problem is that the narrative is quite shallow, and the mechanics are very annoying; there's lots of repetition that is supposed to feed the atmosphere, but ultimately is just annoying (and unskippable...) filler.
By the way, it's not very clear what the "all-star team of creators" is. Besides Jess Cope, it seems that there is no other "star" in the "team".… Expand
