Crystal Dynamics could have done a few things better, but an impressive campaign and a lot of fan love make the title a successful adventure in the world of Marvel that I don't want to do without.

Marvel's Avengers could have been a much better game if Crystal Dynamics had relied more on its own strengths instead of emulating mainstream trends.

An excellent campaign diminished by the intrusion of the game’s multiplayer elements. Some peculiar bugs and sloppy proof-reading can pull you out of the experience but enjoyable combat and an excellent take on some Marvel staples make for an overall fun but grindy core gameplay loop.

Every looter struggles in the early days, and it would be naive think a studio that's never made a game of this type before would nail it right out of the gate. That being said, it's already in way better shape than I ever expected it to be at launch, and, most critically, the combat — particularly in multiplayer — is an absolute blast. I'm hopeful, and I'll be sticking around to see where things go from here.

A range of technical issues are holding it back at launch, but a combination of satisfying combat and likable characters has delivered the foundation of an excellent superhero game.

As a standalone, single player adventure, Marvel’s Avengers is a great experience that is well worth it for major fans of the Marvel universe, Movies and all. However, the majority of endgame content suffers from repetitive and uninspired missions, making the progress from vigilante to superhero a boring task. Though the promise of free post-launch content for 2 years is enticing for even the most hardcore and dedicated Marvel fans.

Avengers is aimed at the most naive Marvel fans willing to absolve their idols of all their sins for a chance to stand next to Captain America or Iron Man — even for just a minute. So yes, fans like Kamala Khan are the perfect target audience for this sort of drivel. Ironically, she’s also the central character of the story.

I haven't had so much fun with an action game for a while. Easy to pick up, with some depth and rpgesque elements if you want to adapt your gear to your challenges, and a story that's very enjoyable for fans of the source material, each character feels unique and heroic enough to get me excited enough to want to go back to the game while writing about it.

    Marvels Avengers
    a good interactive movie
Marvels Avngers has disappointed a lot of people, and I get why.. the gameplay and post game content is too shallow and probably wont keep your attention for long, btut if you look past that, theres a 9 hour long campaign here that can be a blast to play at times…
You play through the story of a girl that become inhuman and sets out to make things right.. good vs evil story of coruse, this is a super hero game.. but youll play across this campaign as a variety of characters which is what I love most about marvels avengers.. its cast of charcters stop this game from getting as repetitive as it would have without them… the campaign is very linear feeling like an interactive movie with dashes of collectables for you to find, but again the gameplay isn’t deep enough for me to even care about that, I was focused souley on getting hrough the campaign, and I actually enjoyed my time.. getting to play as different avenger members, all with their own unique feel and play stylethis made fighting these repetive and boring enemies not so repetitive and boring, unlocking new abilities for my avengers, finding different items to equip them with to boost their stats… these things are all great.. sadly though the gameplay agin isn’t deep enough for any of it to really matter outside of leveling up and unlocking new moves.. so it really comes down to this marvels avengers should be viwed more as a single player experience with co optional content… because if you play this strictly for the multiplaer aspect youre going to be disappointed.. that being said.. the campaign wont blow you away either.. not a lot of crazy moments or cool levels, the campaign is definitely lacking on creativifty, but it does switch up the charcters enough to not overstay its welcome, and because of this, it was enjoyable, even the story was enjoyable and that’s coming from someone that hasn’t seen any of the marvel movies… so the ip isn’t all that made me enjoy this game…
Marvels avengers is far from game of the year, but this is a nice refresh for the marvel universe in the gaming world,
    I give Marvel’s Avengers
    a 7.5/10

After 6 months it's still crashing on pc to desktop about once an hour even though my system can run 1080 on high rec specs. Lip syncing is an issue constantly which breaks immersion and often sound over laps causing audio chaos. Most game pads don't work with it but it's a gamepad game. The game is full of microtransactions. Loot boxes everywhere and crates with zero explanation. Very little makes sense. The story is often confusing and has holes. Everyone is ugly for no reason. The lead calls her father by his name and mentions she has a mother but never mentions her again like she doesn't matter but claims family is the most important thing so a mess. The game steals from every superior game including Spider-Man. The controls are sloppy and tank like and have no way to change in options. The game is made for consoles. Overall the story is trash. The menu system is clunky and janky and glitchy and busywork. You can't equip your upgrades so nothing matters. Same few robot enemies and the worse villains. No Spider-Man!!! Lots of static environments and walking sims. All combat is identical and revolves around smashing buttons. The weakest enemy can 1 shot hulk. Super repetitive.

The good: the lead character Khan is fun. The campaign is fun enough and has some high points. It plays a little like a poor man's mass effect. When it runs it looks good but the environments / maps are shallow and often on rails and small. Sounds ok. Can be fun to play.

Summary: The single player should have been a polished 20 paid game with free to play mp. Overall def play it if you like aaa and to a much lesser extent the avengers as at times it seems like that franchise but like a cheap knock off. If you pay 10 it's good value. The worse part is we won't get another games becasue of this. These wonderful characters deserved so much better. It's all just so disappointing and insidious. 5/10 for fans. A missed opportunity. 4/10 for all others as it's a bad game pretending to be average.

OnFound Poor optimisation for something that hints at being so money Grubbing. Playing with a Ryzen 1700x and a 2080ti on a 1440p monitor. On very high settings it the game ran realised well between 50-70fps until you play as hulk in a town in Utah. Frames dropped down to 15-20fps.
Fps isn't everything though, each character has a realised decent gameplay loop but when your doing the same boring multiplayer missions in every looter shooter you get over it. For a game with such a large focus on co-op there is a whole lot of single player and if you wanted to play the campaign with a friend ever 2nd third mission your going to be doing alone.
Then there is the monitization of the game. And Oof $30 for a skin or a takedown animation on a fortnite style market place I'll happily hold onto the game because it will be playable once the bugs are sorted but. I wouldn't class this as a AAA title from 2020. Was keen for the game just but hurt it wasn't polished.
