Motorcycle Club is an average arcade with a few downsides when it comes to entertaining us. There are some new mechanics, but it's not the game drivers will fully enjoy because it ends up being tedious. There are better options in the world of motorcycles.
Motorcycle Club feels unfinished. The repetitive races, dreary challenges, horrendous sound, and unbalanced motorbike classes ruin what could have been a promising game. Unless you're utterly desperate for a two-wheeled arcade racer, then you'd be wise to ride as far away from this release as possible.
I love motorcycles as it makes the vroom vroom sound, and I love clubbing as i can drink booze and have fun at the same time. SO, when Maximum Games combine motor power with beer extravaganza, it is a recipe for success and pandemonium.
Motorcycle Club is a game you need to stay far away from. It's AI is dramatic, the controls are terrible and the bikes are like enhanced mowing machines. A terrible game.
Worst game ever! 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10
Motorcycle Club is a more small scale arcade bike game (Driveclub arcade point goal). Get Ride, RIMS, TT Isle of Man, Tourist Trophy, SBK, or MotoGP if you want a sim. MX vs ATV for dirt.
It's more a weekend/cheap short run game. Kylotonn aren't the best Dev with mixed results of some games/WRC games. But it's also under Maximum the budget/shovelware pub of BigBen I think like Zoo for Take Two.
Motorcycle Club has 22 bikes, 10 tracks (normal & reverse so 20 total), d-pad for first person over bike, no dials & races/time trial/quick race, hard challenges to unlock required bikes. It's 3GB.
It's short & it's I assumed at launch cheap while I bought it cheap when making this review.
Now I tried the demo before buying this a few months later.
The menu is a very garage/bar like setup kind of like Grid 2 in a way.
To me it's a C to D rate game to summarise it's got fine ideas, average execution, not good progression unless you turbo/read the how to play.
I recommend getting used to the turbo bar (wheelies/near miss walls XD on the constructor challenges, and near miss, ramps or draft on races). Awkward AI, awkward track design with barriers, cracked roads work better with Custom bikes. Make sure to switch bikes in races. Speed limits are late 100s early 200s. Very fast climb in speed too. Wheelie on cracked roads for easy kudos if not, custom bikes.
Graphics are ok. For 3GB & having played Indies or other AA games on a few GBs to 20-30 range to judge. It's fair. As garage/menus are simple & readable.
Visible small 22 bikes & the text details telling you enough of what you need to know of speed/Accel/handling/cylinder/power/torque/seat height/wheelbase & weight (in Ibs not kg).
With 3 (1 per tier) unlocked from the start & 3 classes. Otherwise challenges to unlock bikes (required entry and they can be hard/impossible, with turbo needed to beat the time) for tournaments it isn't.
The game has credits which surprised me I thought it would be more winning bikes Tourist Trophy challenges style but nope.
The races submenu has Tournament, Quick Race, Time Trial & Multiplayer (Online not split screen). There is 10-20 depending how you judge content. So about as much as some arcade racers or GT1 back in the day. I don't mind a handful it just depends how they use them & repeat them.
My expectations are low for this game but I'm being fair.
The Tournaments have 3- 20 races journey (3 in Beginner and 20 in the 10th & final event, they vary per one you enter & get bigger each tournament, told you it was a short game). Requiring bikes as shown on the championship entries. Missions on the right side as a reminder. Kudos are listed as the points in the ranking for tournament. Kudos for tricks & position.
Bikes unlock a fee for a challenge to progress through tournaments (so like R Racing with buying challenges only you unlock the bike from it and using it in the tourney). Brands include Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, BMW and Yamaha. It's mostly a street track/street bike game
The graphics details on the bikes are very average. Even on PS4 (PS3/PC I assume same). As I would expect anyway.
Ride may have more bikes and have it's odd design but it's obviously better looking/higher budget. The bikes do look rather soft on the plastic, metal and rubber textures.
Music seems simple and background noise. It doesn't look it just ends. Some may be catchy/nothing memorable.
The game has a fair how to play readout in the options & otherwise basic settings of speed display Miles or Kilometres, controls are vibration only so no button binding, or brightness which is usually what you'd get with video settings sometimes in games..... Audio, music and sound FX, with data for data with deleting your save I guess. Finally credits of who made the game.
There is a bike select, club for missions (optional credits), challenges (required).
Credits are gained by races or missions, examples include a 80m wheelie, over ramps, jumps, changing bikes 20 times (or 3 in same race) sliding in wake of others, finishing a race in 1st,/last or brushing up against objects. Bonus task stuff but there is many that add on longer to reach goals.
While constructor challenges (required) are your time trial laps basically in 19 events to unlock bikes.
Besides online rankings for lap times.
Customisation for the rider helmet/outfit (4 different aspects of the suit) & an emblem not the bike itself.
1 bike per tier of the 3 Superbike, Roadster and Custom to start. Unlocking by conditions then a purchase with credits.
That's menus. Into the game play.
Loading times were quick on PS4. Track intros work. Wheelie/Draft for urbo bar not so.
10 riders on track.
You can swap between bikes with L1/R1, HUD at the top, speeds are fast & arcadey (each to hit limit) the kudos/points vary, near miss, speed, drift, draft. You have ramps, rings on track for Kudos. Cracked roads eh execution.
5/10
Real quick i just wanna throw my two cents in, even on sale for $7 this game ****, psn isn't even letting me rate it, never seen that before. The bikes you unlock are no better than the ones you start with. For instance, i just unlocked a bike with max acceleration, cool right? Well guess what, its way slower than the bike you already own, so...? I bought this on sale for I think $7 and even I feel like I got ripped off. "oh a racing game on ps4 for $7, well thats GOTTA be worth it right?" No, no it is not. I'm gonna have to suffer through another hour of this game so I can get my money's worth, I don't like throwing $7 in the garbage but that's what this game is. The 3 bike switch mechanic is goofy, who the hell ever wanted that in any racing game? The whole idea of racing games in general is that you work with what you got, you overcome obstacles, upgrade your ride, and get better, so alternate terrain should necessitate a player adaptation, like going around, avoiding, boosting, whatever, it should not necessitate you magically changing which bike you're driving. That is honestly stupid and goofy. Also the inability to upgrade/customize your bike is ridiculous. 4/10 well below average but playable for a few hours. Chances are you WILL be upset or disappointed with the game at that point. Game developers learn from this game's meta score.
Normally I would get with the games story and talk about every detail of the games mechanics, but being that there is no story and the mechanics are limited I feel like this is going to be a fairly short review in general.
The game plays as a less intuitive Forza. You are racing against other racers to earn points so you can make it to the next group of races. I feel **** for comparing this, but the racing is very similar to Mario Kart's cup racing mode. I must make this very clear in no way is the racing like Mario Kart just how the you earn points. The racing feels like I am in some horrible version of Groundhog Day racing the same track over and over. I raced in one tournament and I swear every single track was damn near the same. The truly questionable thing about this game is the line between realism and Kart racing. The game tries to be realistic with the tracks and the bikes, but then will add in speed boost, and switching bikes while moving. The game makes you switch bikes because the annoying ass mechanic of the asphalt on this road will have **** parts that I wouldn't want my car to go over, but a chopper bike will go over much better than a crotch rocket. I honestly have no idea if there is any truth to that, but it did **** me over a few races because the switching isn't instant unlike when the computers does it. So I know what you're thinking, "ok B-rod the racing ****, but surely I can see some kickass crashes?" Well Allan no there are no crashes at all. Infact the game punishes you for trying to crash your opponent riders by cutting to black and putting you a couple places behind. You don't crash it just cuts to black for a second and poof behind three people. This may just be the fact I didn't play it for 18 hours but I also saw around 10 bikes (give or take). That is pathetic; even for a C tier game like this.
Lets do a rundown. The game is clunky on the gameplay. There are no kickass crashes. Around 10 whole bikes with no name brands to speak of. The only positive thing I can say is that it works and is only 30$ on the PS4. I will say save the money and go buy 20 Taco Bell grillers. I give this a 1.5/5, it gets points for working. Like usual I shall leave with a question. Why do they keep making these lower quality racing games that no one will hear of?
How is this game even got released? I taught it would be fun game and guess what i get:
Worst experience ever in a history of my gaming. It's just terrible arcade game...
SummaryBuild and manage your own club, buy authentic bikes, and create rosters in the game that allows you full control of where and how you ride. Race nine superbikes, ten roadsters, and three custom bikes across the USA and Japan in this arcade-style racing game.
