The game is quite a lot of fun, when it is working well. Unfortunately, like a lot of these sorts of games, A.I. issues do sometimes cause a few headaches.
Partisans 1941 is an interesting, and dare I say necessary addition to the pool of World War II games. If memory serves, the only big title to have previously tackled red resistance was Company of Heroes 2, and that one was almost a piece of Nazi propaganda. So, if you’re mindful of the bit of possible Soviet whitewashing that’s in Partisans 1941, you can definitely enjoy this slightly unusual World War II experience. I mean, I love shooting Nazis as much as the next guy, but it does help to remember that the first “W” in World War II doesn’t stand for “Normandy.”
Partisans 1941 is a nice Commandos-like that's pretty good as the atmosphere from the WWII is very good. on the other hand it feels a bit rushed when you look at Desperados III. Consider it if you're willing to close your eyes on some problems.
You can see sparks of an excellent game here and there, but the full potential got lost along the way. Still, not so many tactical action games around – beggars can’t be choosers!
Partisans 1941 is a good strategy game that remind us some great names in the genre, but fails to show the horror of war due to its own playable approaches.
Taking the role of a small, under-equipped squad is a novel angle for a real time strategy game like this. Some aspects of Partisans 1941 were interesting, but the core of the game has too many small complaints to recommend it in a high regard. Combat being far too random is the largest problem as it is causing constant saves and reloads with how deadly it is. Strategy games are in a dearth right now, so this is not a bad game in the slightest if there is a need to play something new, but it simply does not stack up against some of the heavy weights of the genre.
Registered just because wanted to review this game a bit.
Well, what can I say about this game? It has some tech problems which will be fixed for sure (I hope so), gameplay is more sandbox than puzzle like any other "stealth" games.
Resource management, combat and stealth combinations, partisan base, they work good with each other and can give you new experience from playing tactic games.
Must buy.
game is well made, nobugs or glitches. good story, good gameplay, good graphics. but developers **** the game on the stealth combat. the stealth only works offcombat. on combat it doesnt exist. the IA justs activate a wallhack and chase you until death. you just cant hide. the enemies see trhough walls and bushes. it ruins the game experience. played for 5 missions until get bored with that.
An SRTS (Stealth Real Time Strategy) game in the same vain as Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. In truth, it's a poorly executed clone of that game. Fun enough, with good voice acting, pleasant music and perfectly decent level design, it even evolves the team synchronisation mechanics common in SRTSs with slow motion and actual gunfights. Unfortunately a plethora of bugs, less attractive art direction than ST:BotS and seemingly tacked on inter-mission resource & equipment management make this game difficult to recommend above Mimimi Games' efforts.
Also, now I know how specifically this period is/has been frequently used to justify Russian aggression towards its neighbours (e.g. Ukraine), it's hard to not come away with a bad taste in your mouth. Nothing to do with the game mind you, but still.
I'll likely finish the game, but know that there are better alternatives.
Just isn't it. tried to like it. it has a good premise: upgrading your partisans, bit of base-building, inventory management. but clunky controls, and the fact that you need to savescum to win most missions, because the battles are sometimes ludicrously negatively in your favour, and the stealth portions just plain ****. also really bad voice acting,
SummaryPartisans 1941 is a real-time tactics game with stealth elements, set on the eastern front of WW II. As an army commander behind enemy lines you gather a group of Partisans to wage guerilla warfare against the German occupants.
