    Sea of Thieves has successfully redeemed its clumsy launch with Rare being a developer that fully commits to the title with monthly updates for more than two years. Now – it is a game brimming with content, adventure and gorgeous pirate atmosphere with arguably being the best pirate game available and a truly fun multiplayer experience.

    Sea of Thieves has provided some of my favorite gaming moments this year, but the repetitive voyages and reliance on currently infrequent player encounters to keep things interesting mean the seas are a bit shallower than you might expect in a full-price game.

    Sea of Thieves has fresh and great ideas that work well. However, due to very repetitive missions, a lack of content and a poor end-game, this game turns into a tedious one after only a few hours.

    I really want to love Sea of Thieves. The beautiful pirate world and the exciting sea battles you experience from time to time. But I can't do it. There isn't enough content and the lack of progression makes it an unsatisfying game.

    It's a beautiful game which is very different then other games you might have played and even though the content in it now is a bit shallow, the developers are working on monthly+/- updates and are very open about all the process they are going through and sharing that with the players.
    It is a great game to play with friends but sometimes sailing those seas alone can be rewarding as well.
    Sit back relax and just let the sea sink you in. This game is not about the rewards, it's about the adventure you had to get to it. Also it has been out for 2 days don't bash it so much because overall it is doing a really good job as an mmo.    … Expand

I disagree with people who say the game looks good and plays well; I canThis game should never have been released in its current state. I disagree with people who say the game looks good and plays well; I can confidently say it is neither. From the time we first saw this game to the time it got released, I am not convinced that Rare spent any more development time on it. The game lacks even the most basic depth and variety for quests, combat, ships, and character creation. Oh, there isn't ACTUALLY any character creation, despite all of the games rewards being cosmetic, even though it's a first person game you never see your character in. Every seemingly good idea they initially had for the game is either absent of horribly executed on, and there is no sense of progression or meaning whatsoever. The emergent gameplay requires you to cross your fingers and hope to run into something interesting, when really the most interesting thing that can happen is you getting up to pee and coming back to see your treasure chests and quest items being ransacked by some other poor souls who fell for this awful excuse for a AAA game.

    Avoid this at all costs. If this is what they delivered at launch, there is no chance for redemption even years down the line, especially when their post-launch plans include a death penalty, showing how out of touch they are with what players want. A colossal disappointment all around, but they still sold millions. Great work.    … Expand
