The paradoxically relaxing thrill of skiing, without getting cold and wet, without having to travel up into some distant mountains, and without having to do practice a bunch of stunt combos so you can beat this track to unlock the next one. This is the Far Cry 2 of extreme sports games.

Ubisoft deserves a round of applause for addressing the industry’s severe lack of snow sport games with something bold and ambitious. Steep might suffer from play value issues, but there’s nothing comparable. For the more than 10 million skiers and snowboarders around the world, this is a moment of liberation that should go recognized.

It offers an enjoyable trip to the snowing mountains with 4 different extreme sports to explore and challenges along the way. You can push your limits and become king of the mountain or just enjoy the ride through beautiful landscapes and majestic scenery. It’s not only for the fans, everyone could give it a go.

Steep has managed to exceed my expectations, and now, after a long break, we finally have a triple-A game where you can shred down an Alpine mountain on a snowboard and fly using a wingsuit.

Technically impressive open world in the Alps, but the winter sports simulation lacks long time motivation and diversity.

It doesn’t top the best snowboarding game ever made (Amped 3), but it does provide plenty of reasons to continue traveling the Alps. Should the trick system and technical issues be resolved in a sure to occur patch, Steep will become a must play. In its current state, however, it’s best to approach with caution.

Dear fans of winter sports and speeding down a slope. Steep is a weak game that isn't worth your attention. The graphics are ugly, the technical side leaves a lot to be desired and the big open world is boring. Sure, it's not the worst game about skiing and snowboarding, but that's hardly a quote the developers want on the box, right?

There were a few technical flaws, and the game control scheme can take some getting used to, but the released game is a masterpiece. It's the type of game that can be frustrating at first, but with practice is extremely fun and rewarding. The game offers 4 different sports (Skiing, Snowboarding, Paragliding, and Wing-suiting) which give the player different ways of exploring and tricking down the mountain. I don't have a problem with the fact that it's an online only game, but can see how it would be a problem for others who are not always connected to the internet. Those looking for the next SSX, arcade-style game will be disappointed. This game strives for a more realistic and scenic take on extreme snow games, where each run has to be approached strategically. Expand

Played the closed alpha/beta and open beta for about 45-50 hours. Still put in 30 hours the first weekend the game was out.

I really love the just being able to do what ever I want. There are so many hidden spots to pull a sick line or jump that are not part of any challenge, It is a huge part of the game that a lot of reviews seem to be missing. I still have like 50 challenges to find/ do in the game as well. Plus they will be giving a free map of Alaska that is going to be about the same size.

I thought the trick system was really well done. Easy to pick up, but hard to master. They game does focus more on more realistic tricks, but that doesn't mean there isn't some nonsense spots and tricks. Ski and snowboard do handle a little different. I enjoyed playing with both.

Then we have what I consider bonuses is the wing suit and para-glider. Wing suit was fun right off the bat. lots of fun places to do runs. Now the para-glider, I hated it at first, but now its one of my favorite things to do, had an hour and half run last night just exploring the map.

I was a little annoyed when the beta was released because I was out of town and didn't get a chance to try the game. However, after watchingI was a little annoyed when the beta was released because I was out of town and didn't get a chance to try the game. However, after watching some gameplay video decided to take a risk and buy the gold version. So far the game has exceeded my expectations.

The graphics look fantastic, and the environments, riders, and snow texture, are all very convincing. The animation is also very smooth and forgiving of collisions (leans arcade without being too silly).

The control scheme takes a little getting used to, but after a couple hours all of the sports become fairly easy to control and allow you to move around the map quite fluidly.

As much as I enjoy leveling myself up, I'm almost having more fun aimlessly cruising around the mountains taking jumps and carving powder. The movement can be deeply satisfying when you get it right, although somewhat frustrating when you get it wrong.

The open world concept works wonderfully well in Steep, and I feel like Ubisoft have created plenty of compelling reasons for the game to be online only, which have been lacking from some of their previous efforts. Initially, I was dubious about them waiting to send out review copies until the title was launched, but now I see that perhaps it was a good decision. The online and social features are critical to the game, and fortunately, all work well and are reasonably intuitive.

I enjoy being in the world of Steep and hope it continues to be developed.

This game is not for everyone. It is possible to love, and fiercely hate. To hate due to the fact that I want a gold medal, but doingThis game is not for everyone. It is possible to love, and fiercely hate. To hate due to the fact that I want a gold medal, but doing something wrong. And sometimes don't understand you can't get the gold for himself, or because of some bugs. Yes, this game is about testing, about overcoming, about the sill. Under plain wrapper hides a hardcore game, so don't be deceived - it is easy to knock the gold here we need to break a few controllers. And, trust me, you want a gold medal. Why? Perfectionism. The music here is good. But the game would not have been as engrossing if not for the graphics. Oh yeah! Graphics are wonderful! especially the snow and it's physics.
In life I'm afraid to ride with such big mountains, but I would like! This game is a pleasant hiking adventure for fans of extreme sports. I can't call Steep for the big game. It's just a nice game that should cost most cheaply, as quickly bored.

It has many bugs, glitches, technical issues and feels more like a beta than the full game which ruins it's potential for being relaxing game as all this things can really frustrate you after couple of hours of gameplay.
