The Evil Within 2 is an excellent game and a wonderful survival horror, perfectly mixing Silent Hill and Resident Evil 4 while correcting all the flaws of the original. The story’s better, the locations flow together well, the more open areas are fun to explore, and the ability to choose between action and stealth is very welcome. It’s also incredibly creepy with truly wonderful monster designs. The combat can be a little frustrating, especially early on, and occasionally the stiff Resident Evil 4/Gears of War-esque controls make things a little tougher than they need to be, but in general The Evil Within 2 hits the mark. If you’re looking for that ideal horror game to play on Halloween, this is the one to go for.

Excellently playable survival horror that skillfully combines its fascinating (linear) plot with an open world.

The Evil Within 2 get so much right that it's predecessor got wrong, and it's actually a great game on top of that. The initial chapters of the game start off slow, but then once things get rolling, this game is really hard to put down.

Innovating within the bounds of horror's familiar tropes and rules is a difficult task, but one that The Evil Within 2 handles with grace. Developer Tango Gameworks cleverly introduces old-school horror design within the confines of a semi-open world that ultimately makes for a refreshing trip into a world of nightmares.

The Evil Within 2 is a grand follow up from a studio who has set out to fix the pacing issues with the first game, while offering a bigger, more coherent title that looks better and plays better with the reworked stealth and upgrade mechanics, but without forgetting the parts that made most of the original a solid action horror title. The Evil Within 2 throws players into its disturbing, more personal world for Sebastian, offering some great horror scenarios and thrilling, tense action to back up its amazing monster and environment design. Even though this year has been amazing for games, it’s not been the most active for action horror fans, making The Evil Within 2 highly recommended for people who enjoy throwing themselves into disturbing adventures to get their thrills.

An intense and thrilling psychological survival horror sequel that improves on its forerunner in almost every way.

The Evil Within 2 is a better game than the original. While I feel that no part of the game close to the excellent opening moments of the chainsaw man chase that opened the first game, the sum of those parts makes for a better overall experience. That said, I did not really fancy any of it. My aforementioned gripes and PC port issues leave me feeling indifferent towards the scattered high points. In classic horror fashion, the game ends with a hint towards another sequel. Hopefully it will try breaking new ground in gameplay systems and offer a more compelling story.

Compared to the first part, this is no longer a horror that can make the heart beat slower when approaching the next corner of the corridor.Compared to the first part, this is no longer a horror that can make the heart beat slower when approaching the next corner of the corridor. The second part is half action & half horror. I cannot say that it is worse, just differently. I also liked this game too. it more reveals the world of the game and the motives of its characters.
The story of the game is very interesting. It might feel like there are too many sudden plot twists for a simple horror, but I liked it too, because it seemed to me that the antagonist who appeared at the beginning of the game began to tire me a lot(I hate such characters), and this would mean that the game would end very quickly. In addition, further narration made the game sparkle with new colors. The end of the game was especially interesting. A little far-fetched with pathos and special effects, but still very interesting. Therefore, it was offensive to write about the shortcomings of the game because of which I did not give it the maximum rating: Non-removable arrows. A single silencer that we receive only in 2/3 of the game. Too many words like "what the f**k" for someone, who knows already about dreams(Such a surprise shouts from such a pro who has been familiar with the system for a long time sounds too silly). The flashlight is constantly switched on in the first zone and some places further. Looting is slow(to take an item you need to wait seconds!). Two enemies sit near and if you kill silently one of them it does not interfere with the other one(silent killing involves loud sounds of fighting and knife strikes, by the way). Too stupid theatrical deaths(I hate this in films and I'm not going to forgive that to the games, it takes much more time, energy and attention here). And the last one. Slides that you watch in your office, they are good, but the dialog during watching... It seemed to me very funny that he spoke on the radio not about what was on the slides, but about what he associated with these slides. It's just that some of them depicted something that would be interesting to know, but he starts to talk about something completely uninteresting, like a conversation between two drunks in a bar. Perhaps it's only a niggle, but like that.

It's not nearly as challenging and tense as the first (based on normal difficulty). Doesn't run remotely as smooth as the first, on a system with an i5-4460, evga gtx 970 ssc, 16gb ddr3. Optimization needs tons of work. Adjusting graphics settings makes very little difference in performance. The game was fun and entertaining enough for me to endure all the hefty fps drops and stutters, which were not present in the first game. I'd rate 9 if the performance wasn't such an issue. Low fps is one thing, but crappy frame-pacing is another. Most likely it'll never get fixed. Behind the meh performance is a true work of art though. Worth playing for sure if you like a good mix of stealth, action and exploration. Expand

I didn't play this game on PC but I can say the story is really really bad. Play the first evil within instead.
