The ultimate goal of the Two Worlds project is to deliver a superior Role Playing Game to the PC and Xbox 360 market where players have a real chance to shape the game world with their actions - to an extent that has yet to seen in other productions. This premise is supported with a strong, non-linear storyline and stunning combat sequences. The world comes to life as it immediately reacts to the player's actions and changes accordingly - offering new and exciting challenges. Players can shape their own story by choosing the path of conducting the main conflict and resolving meaningful side-quests. The combat system combines intuitive steering, tactical challenges and movie-like visual experiences. Players can experiment with different careers and even reverse their former choices with the help of "career changers". Players can travel and fight on various animals from horses to tamed lizards and beasts. Randomly generated pieces of equipment, thematic sets and combined items offer the space to experiment and satisfy the need to collect. [SouthPeak Interactive] Expand

If you've been jonesing for a return to a huge, open-ended roleplaying world with a ton of depth and a rousing storyline, you'll find yourself right at home in at least one of these Two Worlds. [Dec 2007, p.78]

A decent, if uninspired fantasy RPG in the vein of the Elder Scrolls and Gothic series. Its biggest problem is the generic fantasy setting combined with general mediocrity. But in the end, it is fun to play, and there can never be too many RPGs like that. [Sept 2007]
  3. Epic scale and depth of content make Two Worlds worthwhile.
  4. To its credit, Two Worlds dares to be less conventional than Oblivion, but it's not nearly as polished in any regard. The unbalanced difficulty makes for a frustrating first few hours, and there's little incentive to return to the game after completing the main story line.

It's easy to see the thinking behind Two Worlds. Elder Scrolls has been a massive hit and it'll be years before another hits home: When opportunity knocks... [Oct 2007, p.89]
  6. Two Worlds succeeds at what it sets out to provide – a poor man’s Oblivion and a simple, unrestrictive introduction to role playing games.

Think of a bug that has annoyed you at some point throughout the videogame-playing years of your life and it’s more than likely that Two Worlds has suffered from it at some stage. [Nov 2007, p.114]

I personally couldn't play this game below Hard setting because honestly, it is too easy and lacks any kind of challenge due to automatic resurrections and no penalties. But on Hard, you have a real sense of adventure travelling this wonderful world, and the combat becomes really tactical. You'll have to carefully plan your strategies, attack and retreat, change your weapons, get your timing right... it's a great challenge, yet it never feels unfair or unbeatable. People these days seem to expect from any RPG that they can just barge through it, mow down thousands of enemies and see the ending. This is not what it's about. It's about the journey to get there. And it's about literally getting lost in the game world. The story and scenario might be a bit generic, but Two Worlds have everything else. I must add that I only played the fully patched v1.7 version. But when I see people writing about unfair difficulty, terrible graphics, bad controls, I wonder what game they have played. It's not the Two Worlds I am experiencing just now. If you're thinking about playing this game, don't care about the bull that is written about it at some places, and give it an unbiased chance. Because most of the downsides people mention are just flat out lies, probably written by players who were frustrated because this is not one of those games that you can rush through and win without any trouble. However, it is also quite a lot of fun. I really don't know how else to put it. The storyline is so bad it's good. The voice acting is pure cheesiness. You'll get sick of the word "verily" after about ten minutes of play. They try to make it old English, but they messed it up. Combat is fun, character development is fun, crafting is fun, exploring is fun, and spells are fun. You really get that "I'm getting stronger" feeling the best RPGs give you as you develop. If you can get it for cheap, pick it up. I'd spend $10-20 on it. It'll amuse you for a week or two. Expand
