So addictive. So fun. It seems simple but underneath is an unbelievably complex and robust roguelike odyssey. A true piece of indie jewelry.

My only hesitation in recommending it to Xbox players is the unwelcome presence of launch bugs that impede stage and achievement unlocks for some and other strange odds and ends. Patching has helped so far, and I hope it gets to be as relatively issue-free as the PC versions soon. Despite these early console setbacks, Vampire Survivors has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time. Consider this me grabbing the sides of your head and shouting, "Play Vampire Survivors, you fool!"

Vampire Survivors is a small and addictive game. Try it.

Vampire Survivors is simple in so many ways. The graphics are basic, with many of the earlier versions’ assets taken straight from other games and asset packs, but they have a look that reminds players of a beloved series and simply work. Gameplay is literally just moving a character around with some planning along the way. Yet somehow, it’s one of the most addicting games of 2022, the one I most consistently come back to, and one of my favorites of the year. If you have a spare thirty minutes now and then, absolutely check it out.

Vampire Survivors is a surprising and well-packaged title, supported by a formula capable of kidnapping the user to drag him into a continuous succession of high-intensity pyrotechnic battles. By putting a simple but effective gameplay loop at the center of the proposal, Poncle has built an experience full of reward mechanics, expertly administered to push the user into a tunnel made of addiction and fun. Son of a talent for game design that we hope will continue to amaze us in the years to come, Vampire Survivors is therefore a title that is absolutely worth trying, especially considering the negligible cost of Luca Galante's work.

Vampire Survivors has been an early access sensation, and its full release would be well-worth your time even if it wasn't the price of a large latte.

With a wealth of weapons, unlockable characters, hidden relics and buff-providing cards, Galante has adopted the kitchen-sink approach to fleshing out his game. [Issue#378, p.121]

A few bucks for a game + its DLC and I know for a fact that I will, over time, put hundreds upon hundreds of hours into this game. The value-for-money exchange here is ridiculous. It's been a decade+ since I last played a game where it truly gave me that "Just one more round!" feeling where you say that at 10pm and realize you're still playing at 3am. This is that game for me right now. The gameplay loop is quick, exciting, fun, and most importantly; not predatory in the slightest. You pay for a game and you get that + more.

It's not a game I will play consistently or daily. Maybe over time it won't even be played weekly. But it's a game that, when I do play it, I will play it for hours and have a blast. That's really all you can ask for as a gamer. Especially when you're looking for a game that doesn't REQUIRE you to play for hours daily to make progress. This is just a gamey-ass game. No strings attached, no ****

    It's really good, simple-yet-surprisingly-deep fun.

I grab garlic I run right, I get dopamine. The fact this game is so cheap is insane, the dev deserves more.

The only action theVampire Survivors is an action roguelike that challenges players to survive against waves of enemies for thirty minutes. The only action the player can perform is to move around the screen with the player character firing any collected weapons automatically. Collecting orbs from defeated enemies allows the player to unlock new weapons or upgrade the ones you already have.

With it’s basic graphics and relatively straightforward gameplay, this is a game that may seem a little light at first, but the variety of weapon combinations and desire to survive that little big longer each time makes for an extremely addictive title.

This game really did a great job perfecting the “just one more round” level of addiction, and the simplicity of game controls and mechanics where the only “button” is the movement of your character, whether that’s the arrow keys or a joystick. Graphics, sound, and complexity of gameplay are that of an old Flash game on Newgrounds. I mean all of this in the best way, this is a highly addictive game boiled down to its absolutely smallest components, which is somewhat of an art with how well it was executed. The issue I had with this game is after 6 hours, I just thought why am I still doing this? There isn’t much to it at all. There is a lot of fun that can be had in this game, I think at minimum you’ll get a few hours out of it, at most you’ll get tons of hours out of it, and with the very low price tag of $5, it’s absolutely worth it, but in the end I found that it’s simplicity was also the reason I stopped playing. Maybe its just me, but once I hit one REALLY good run, my interest completely dropped off. Glad I played it though. Expand

There seems to be some sort of mass insanity sweeping the world where games like this are getting high scores. You run round in a circleThere seems to be some sort of mass insanity sweeping the world where games like this are getting high scores. You run round in a circle avoiding junk that gradually gets quicker. That's the game. Like a mobile game you'd get bored with after a couple of goes and forget about it. It looks like windows xp disk defragmenter and an Amstrad game from the 80s had a baby. No skill involved whatsoever. Absolute rubbish. How many of the high scorers still play this after a couple of days? None I'll bet! Expand
