There's never been anything like it and there may never be again. Brütal Legend is truly a gift to metal and game fans alike and my new, best 3D game ever.
  2. Let‘s bring up the facts: Brütal Legend is unique, has great music, is fun as hell and stars Jack Black! Aside from that, a great story about heavy metal, dreams and love awaits you - but don‘t forget to kick some ass. Simply brütal!

If God gave rock ‘n roll to us then it is settled: Tim Schafer is God. A must play. [Dec 2009, p.62]
  4. Tim Schafer’s latest game-baby is a tribute to Metal, with a little parody to the genre. The game has a lot of varieties that is either a curse or a blessing to the game. The game loses a lot of depth because of the varieties, but delivers a humoristic and ever changing package. However the game is technical a little messy, it plays a great tribute to the Metal genre.
  5. It's undoubtedly a fun game, packed full with humour (although this does tail off towards the end), metal references, amazing encounters and memorable characters. It's the RTS sections that really let the game down for me, feeling like a good idea that hasn't quite been implemented well enough to gel with the rest of the game.
  6. The story falters towards the end, and the fact that the game is so short is the biggest bummer of all. Regardless, it’s a great game that will be remembered for a long time coming.
  7. The gameplay, as singular a combination of gameplay styles as it is, suffers from being a jack of all trades and master of none. Like most teenage metalheads, this game has got issues, but if you're willing to look past some very uneven gameplay, Brutal Legend will rock you. Hard.

It's one of the most mind I almost let this one pass me by...I thought it was some sort of Guitar Hero game...luckily I figured it out. It's one of the most mind blowing games I've ever played. The second I saw Lemmy, I knew I was in for a ride. It featured some of the original bands that Metalica stole from. My heart skipped a beat as I was flipping through song selections (during a high speed chase) and found Budgie's "Breadfan". The game has over 100 songs and not one of them from a "sellout" group. The story is epic and sublime...not spoon fed like so many others. A couple of the cut scenes sent shivers up my spine while others made me trip out a little. You'll want an HDTV and a cranked up surround sound to truly get the full effect of this wonderful game. Expand

However, I think the soundtrack and the heavy metal imagery compensate that problem by far.

Moving across the land while listening to heavy music on the vehicle is one of the most memorable things I have ever done in video games. Overall, it is a must-play for all fans of the genre.

There were some graphical issues and sometimes the game throws you into a situation without any idea what the hell your supposed to do. With There were some graphical issues and sometimes the game throws you into a situation without any idea what the hell your supposed to do. With that said I thought the rest of the game was pretty solid. The environment and music really set the scene and make you feel like your in the world or rock. The voice work is pretty good and the script is awesome. The game does what it set out to do, melt your face and make you laugh. I suppose that the only thing else worth mentioning was how frighteningly plastic the two lead females faces were. They always looked suprised. I think Double Fine did an excellent job and I can't wait till their next adventure. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had an awesome time with this one. It's definitely a metal head's fantasy, full of rock and metal elements, whether it be world design, gameplay, weapons, music, or cameos. Amazing performances by Jack Black, Rob Halford, Lemmy Kilmister, and even Ozzy Osbourne himself! A great action, adventure and real-time strategy if you are into metal. Would reccomend. Expand
