A mysterious story of a mysterious dream...
One of the stories experienced throughout the Alchemist Sophie’s many adventures, as she continued her travels after leaving her hometown of Kirchen Bell.
This is Sophie’s adventure as she searches for her friend Plachta in the dream world Erde Wiege, where they become separated, and shows the bonds she forms with the people she meets and passing of hearts.

    â– Evolved turn-based battles & seamless transitions!
In the 6 member party turn-based battles, the 3 members in the front and 3 in the back form 2 teams cooperating “multi-linked turn battles”, and transitions from exploration to battles without loading times in “seamless battles”, the entire game can be enjoyed at a great pace.

â– 2 types of panels for everyone to enjoy synthesis!
This game uses panel synthesis, the synthesis system of the Mysterious series, where materials are placed in the panel slots to create new items in this puzzle-like feature. By placing the certain materials in the slots, various effects can be produced.
There are 2 types of panels in this game that players can select from : a regular panel and a restricted panel that has a higher synthesis difficulty level.
The board of the restricted panel is fairly complex, but when materials are placed just right, items with high effects can be synthesized, which can't be generated from the regular panel.

Atelier remains the comfort food of video games, and Atelier Sophie 2 is one of the more comforting snacks. With so many dense and complex games releasing around one another at the moment, having something that is light, warm, and good-natured is a nice release. I don't know if launching immediately after Elden Ring and Horizon, and immediately before Triangle Strategy works in Sophie's favour, but if you can resist making those comparisons, what you'll see here is one of the most refined and beautiful entries in this long-running and utterly wonderful JRPG mainstay. The game deserves better than to be compared like-for-like with these other titles, as it no doubt will be.

Atelier Sophie 2 is a high point in a fantastic series. Gathering and alchemising materials has simply never been so compelling.

Year in, year out, the Atelier series never fails to top itself. Atelier Sophie isn’t just a check-in with beloved character — it manages to meaningfully increase our understanding of that character by giving her the chance to interact with her closest companions in an entirely new context. For fans of the franchise, this is one of the most satisfying experiences that Gust could have offered, and for anyone looking for a chill, accessible JRPG, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is yet another enjoyable game from Gust and Koei Tecmo. Even if you don’t get fully invested in the story, the adventuring alone is enough to keep you playing. A great alchemy system accompanies a fun battle system, all set in a world that’s a joy to explore – with a cast of characters that you’ll undoubtedly enjoy spending time with. If you’ve enjoyed Atelier games in the past, then you’ll love this one too.

A pleasant journey lies in this 2022 iteration of the Atelier saga, with old-school gameplay and new ideas. A bit weird not to find any PS5 version or french subtitles as in the last entry, but still, this is a great game for veterans and newcomers alike.

While this latest entry in the Atelier Series may not excel in every mechanic it employs, it has clearly mastered one. Its complete realisation of the alchemy gameplay is a consistent pleasure to play. Its shortcomings minor and major in its visuals, story, or combat are routinely overshadowed by the satisfaction of improving your alchemical skills. Provided you know what you’re getting into, you’re sure to enjoy your time stirring the pot.

Atelier Sophie 2 does a lot of things well, keeping pace moving forward at a relatively good pace. At the same time, it leaves plenty of opportunities to grow as there are some franchise issues that remain in place.

This was an ideal Atelier game, with all elements of the game being of a high standard. The return to a turn-based system was a deep battle utilizing Atelier's original items, and was desired by many users of the series. The game is also very impressive because it is beautifully organized, without the awkwardness between the main story and character episodes that was a problem in the previous ryza 2 game. The puzzle system, which was the best in the past, has been adopted for the mixing system, so you can fully enjoy the ingenious Atelier style of enjoyment. In the story, there are many characters with great personalities, which is really ideal here. Expand

Glad to say that this one is a return to normal. No more spoiled children destroying home and family. No more complexity for complexity's sake. No more days passing in the literal blink of an eye. Just some good old fashioned alchemy with one of the best (if not the best) alchemist in the game. There are plenty of additions to make the game feel fresh of it's part one, and the story is interesting without any wash cloth characters to drag it down. The graphics look fine, and the music doesn't quite feel as good as the previous one but nothing bad is in there either. It's a great game, that I'm happy to have in my collection! Expand

Although I find the pace of the tutorials and recipesIf you played the last Ryza 2 game, you will like the overall experience of this game. Although I find the pace of the tutorials and recipes to be very slow. Fighting is fun and sometimes strategic. Graphics are nice. Some minor clippings. The animations are superb. The story is interesting in it's own way. One of the big issue of this game is that at certain points, the game tells you to synthesize an item, yet put very little help on the direction to take, or what to do. I had to go on the net to find out. One time was because I received a recipe but it never showed up in the listing. Also, even when you have an item in your inventory, the game doesn't take account of it when you get the quest to synth an item (yet all the side quest works with the actual inventory). I give the game a 75%. I think they downgraded a bit from the previous version. The game is still fun with perky dialogues but something is very odd with the quest systems. Expand
