Armature Studio is really coming into its own as a developer and 'Dead Star' is proof of that. It's one of the most accessible MOBAs to date, and doesn't feature the high barrier of entry that plagues so many of its contemporaries. This is largely circumvented thanks to a wonderfully done tutorial. There's not another game quite like it on the market, which ensures that I'll continue to go back to it frequently.

Dead Star is a dynamic and entertaining mash-up of top-down shooter and open MOBA variant. It initially seems simple and straightforward, but the more you play it, the more its tactical and strategic depths become apparent. Ultimately, it's a really enjoyable game that offers intense, competitive PvP action, from exciting one-on-one dogfights to pitched battles involving many players.

Overall, Dead Star is a game that starts out a bit slow, but gets better the more you play it.

Dead Star is quite fun, unique and serves as a great spin on both old and new genres, but one can’t help but feel concerned about the game’s longevity.

Testing a new ship and learning the best situations to use each weapon and ability feels thoroughly satisfying, especially when playing against human opponents. All the while, Dead Star still manages to feel tense and exciting, and the strong community suggests that it will continue to be a worthy addition to your gaming library.

An interesting mix of concepts whose outcome is yet unknown.

I wanted to enjoy Dead Star. After all, it's a twin stick shooter that you play with others — on paper, that's pretty dope. Sadly, any potential the game may have had is lost in its execution.

I picked up this game for free on PS+ and have nor regretted it in the least, it's currently my favourite game to may and I'm starting to consider where it ranks in my personal favourite games of all time.

The beginning was a bit rough, I went for about 20 hours solo and had a lot of both good and bad matches. I eventually found a mix of ships and skills that suited me and began to consistently win games and be the top player in the match. Having read the other reviews here, I gotta say that you can ignore the bad reviews.

Tossed up solo against a really good coordinated team? Leave the lobby and find a lobby that is fill of solo players. More and more people are playing everyday and the Dev team is working hard to improve matchmaking.

Playing with people who don't know what they are doing? Try to use the tools at your disposal to get their attention. Take a ship in your mix that has support functions and help keep your team alive. Get on the forum or in one of the game's communities to find people to team up with. Bring a mic, we love hearing you.

The community in the game is frankly awesome and I've spent tons of hours with some really cool people. There are a lot of us who are willing to take newer players along with us to help them out. We love the game and want it to succeed, and helping you play is part of that.

Unless you don't like MOBA's, this is a game to check out for sure.

Try the ships, get the hang of one of them. Dead Star comes off like it doesn't have much depth, but it does. A lot of players aren't giving the game a fair shake because it's not an established AAA title and has released on PSN Plus during a drought. Don't make this mistake. Expand

You capture small bases until you destroy their main base. As in most MOBA's you either are down and stay down and lose, or win. There's very few close games or much you can do about it yourself. There's 9 ships total, but you take 3 to battle with you, so really only 3 diff combos, which isn't much for a MOBA. All of the level's are very similar and play the same. Getting resources take forever. There's also barely any people playing anymore, so after long waits you play as a level 1 guy playing with level 30/40 people that have better abilities and have played a ton and you get destroyed. Also because of the rock scissors paper of the ship types if you run into the wrong type you usually die. Really hard to escape or get way. No real dodges or evasions. If you fight someone and someone else shows up you just lose. Annoying how if you're getting shot you just have to slowly fly away taking more shots and dying, as there's nothing you can do. Felt i had experienced everything game had to offer in 30-45 min. Expand

No contract runs, so I can't explore the game's only other mode, and it's set up where I'm the only person actually playing on the team while everyone is not moving and going the wrong way. They actually thought this was worth $20. If you want to play a good MOBA, try League, or Dota, anything but this. Expand
