This Season Update experiment makes you wonder why this hasn’t been the norm for football games for years. If this is the future of the genre, sign me up. EA should be looking over their shoulder. PES has retaken the crown.

eFootball PES 2021 does exactly what it says. Well, not exactly, as it took some time to refine a few gameplay elements of its predecessor to become even more enjoyable on the pitch - even online.

All things considered, PES 2021 is a perfect point of entry for those who missed out on PES 2020 and a valuable update to the game for those who already own it, but it's not different enough to cover up its flaws in the same way its predecessor did, making it an arguable tier lower than FIFA as sports fans turn their eyes towards what next-gen simulations can offer.
  4. It is appreciated that Konami releases PES 2021 as an update rather than releasing the same game every year.

Nothing less or more than what was promised. Still the best football game around but its problems feel more glaring a year later.

It's the same game from last year - for better or for worse. The fact that Konami is really upfront about it is great, but they do get only one shot next year to wow us with PES 2022. In the meantime, this is what we got - and it's good.

This season update doesn’t bring anything new - not even correct rosters for the new season, which it really should include. But if you haven’t played the previous instalment, this is a fine way to cheaply acquire a great football game.

Its about Gameplay, Gameplay, Gameplay. Years of tuning, untuning, incremental changes finally coming to a full and complete footballIts about Gameplay, Gameplay, Gameplay. Years of tuning, untuning, incremental changes finally coming to a full and complete football experience. Konami stuck to a focus, a plan, and it all comes together. Sure those who like new sparkles, and non game fluff will not be happy, as nothing fundamentally changes there, as Konami were honest about (check the title). But on the pitch. The final 1% tuning - its the difference between thoroughbred and nag, ferraris and ford (except GT40 of course). This is a game that rewards you for learning how to play it properly, because when you score a goal you remember it, like you are on the pitch yourself. Its Japanese culture - detailed, precise, complex embodied in the best football gaming experience. Those in the community that supported this game over the years of frustration have spoken, read their reviews if you want to see what it is all about. Well done Konami. Expand

Sadly they were more interested in manipulating and frustrating players for a quick buck (myclub). The engine is pretty good and when the game just let's you play (without the insane scripting/handicapping/momentum/whatever) it can be a lot of fun. I just can't bring myself to play it anymore. It literally feels when playing pes2021 like there is a little troll in the playstation that's trying to get you as frustrated and miserable as possible, just to get you to spend some cash to strengthen your team. Which are useless since the pes troll decides whether your players will do anything right on the pitch.

KEEP AWAY FROM THIS PIECE OF **** they did not put out the demo first because they knew no one would buy this crap! demo of last year editionKEEP AWAY FROM THIS PIECE OF **** they did not put out the demo first because they knew no one would buy this crap! demo of last year edition was a perfect football game but somehow they managed to ruin it from top to bottom! crazy fanboys talk about some realistic gameplay!?!?!? WHAT REALISTIC GAMEPLAY??? if you want realistic go play real football but if you want a fun video game buy FIFA instead of this crap! The defense is played with one button!!! you just hold x and they take the ball from the opponent, there is no way to trick the defender they are on you like a homing missile !! for that reason, it is very boring to play defense unlike in FIFA where you have to control all of your players at the same time...I have been playing PES since 1998, just trust me guys STAY AWAY FROM THIS PIECE OF CRAP GAME!!
