Mortal Kombat X is easily the pinnacle of Mortal Kombat, building on every improvement the series made in 2011, adding depth to the main fighter and delivering advancement to the modes that only NetherRealm could offer.

Mortal Kombat X offers the best story mode I've ever personally seen in a fighting game. Its cohesive plot and extended cinematics makes you feel much more like a participant in a film than a player on the couch. The fighting is frantic, fluid, and dynamic, with the glorious goriness of the X-Ray moves often turning the tides of battle.

The combat is rock-solid, and offers a technicality that may surprise those with a low opinion of the series.

Mortal Kombat X is the best in the series so far. It offers lots of things to do and a game mechanics that are easy to learn but difficult to master. Also the executions are more spectacular then ever before.

Although you can't escape it, Mortal Kombat X's violence doesn't come at the cost of great gameplay design; it's either your punishment for failure, or your reward for mastering the art of kombat.

Netherrealm has taken a number of welcome steps forward with Mortal Kombat X, but no momentum is gathered, because it's stopped in its tracks by an avalanche of needless distractions, some miserable netcode and - oddly, for a game so obsessed with death in all its grisly forms - poor execution of decent ideas. Let me start outI didn't intend to write a review, but then I read some really stupid s... A dude was like "Liu Kang is not playable - 1/10." Let me start out by saiying that Liu Kang is indeed playable, so do your research next time, please. Now for the review. Mortal kombat is awesome in every way. There is so much content i this game. I am new to the whole Mortal kombat stuff, but I have totally fallen in love with this franchise. The characters are unique and exciting, the story mode challenges modern Hollywood movies and the x-rays and fatalities are so disturbing and fun to watch. This is one of my favorite Fighters of all time. I can only recommend it to everybody! Expand

The story all though not as good as MK 9's story but still fun to play through and sets up MK 11 perfectly. Thankfully they brought back the single fight mode from Injustice where you can fight an enemy A.I and chose which character you want to play as and which one you want to fight against instead of going through the arcade mode and hopefully get Scorpion vs Sub Zero. The online multiplayer is back and is still pretty damn good although still lagy but if you get a clean connection you can find your self in an awesome game. Its a must buy and with the XL version coming out now is the perfect time to play Mortal Kombat X Expand

Not a perfect score, game glitch for alot of people who couldn't unlock content straight away that was available for everyone else from the start. Not enough playable characters, which they probably intend to make you pay for in the future.

There is limited maps, though the existing maps are quite good. I see no reason in 2015 why more fighters were not included out of the box. My son and I have played for hours, both against each other and in the story. The game like I said is enjoyable. The dialogue is horrible, not funny, not intelligent, not serious at all. If that's ok for you, so be it. As far as Im concerned the voice volume can be turned completely down. The graphics are pretty decent, but not up to par with next generation quality. I enjoy Mortal Kombat and am partial to games I can play locally with my kids so I give this game a decent score. It plays great and is fun. I do believe content could have been and should have been deeper, especially for a game with such history and an extensive back catalog. I may purchase the additional content, but Im not sure as like most gamers I am tired of being nickled and dimed to death by these greedy game developers and systems. Once again, a fine game for fans of the fighting genre but lacking in content that should be there. Expand
