Jul 31, 2014Oddworld New ‘n Tasty is the perfect example of what a remake should be; it keeps a fantastic game and just adds every conceivable thing to improve it. There are too many awesome little touches to mention.
-
Jul 23, 2014Just as Abe's Oddysee was a classic of the PlayStation era, so too should Oddworld: New n' Tasty be a classic of the modern age. More than just a remake, this is a contemporary puzzle-platformer that charms, exasperates, and delights. This is how you do a reboot.

CD-ActionOct 22, 2014It’s been a long time since any game offered me such an engaging challenge and rewarded with so much satisfaction. [10/2014, p.62]

Sep 8, 2014New ‘N’ Tasty is exactly what it claims to be: a new experience still instantly familiar to anyone that played the original, and vital playing for those that didn’t. Oddworld was a defining presence on the Playstation, and New ‘N’ Tasty will remain a defining experience on the new generation of consoles, too. It’s a pleasure to see a remaster done so well.
-
Aug 20, 2014Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee was a classic on PlayStation One and nearly twenty years later it feels as fantastic as ever. This due to the fact that the game is built from the ground up and the biggest flaws of the original game are history. The fact that it’s a sidescroller now, has it’s pro’s and cons, but the game never really drops the ball. New ‘N’ Tasty offers a lot of nostalgia to its fans and for newcomers, this is the moment to get your first taste of Abe’s abnormal adventure.
-
Aug 18, 2014Abe's adventure is better than ever in this remake of the Playstation-classic from 1997. The charm from the original remains intact even though the game has taken a huge technical leap from 2D into a 3D-plattformer with beautiful graphics. Unfortunately the controls feel rather outdated at times but at the end of the day this slight problem is nothing that ruins Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty from being a brilliant remake of an instant classic.
-
Aug 11, 2014If you are are still skeptical of giving it a go, maybe just try thinking of it as "an adventure through a genocidal meat factory with plenty of explosions and telepathy." That may change your mind.
-
Jul 29, 2014Time's not always kind with old videogames, but this Oddworld remake proves that Abe's odyssey was truly timeless.
-
Jul 29, 2014Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is an excellent example of how to remake a game. A must for returning fans and newcomers alike.
-
Jul 28, 2014Abe's Oddysee has shown us how the gameplay of the series is still remarkably valid, and we can not help but recommend it to everyone. Whether you played at the end of the millennium, whether you were born at the end of the millennium, do not miss it.
-
Jul 28, 2014If anyone knows how to bring a classic onto modern stage, it’s Just Add Water. Not just an excellent port of a great title, but a solid game in its own right, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is fully able to proudly rub shoulders with any puzzle-platformer released in the last ten years.
-
Jul 25, 2014Oddworld. Same as it ever was... Well no, it is better. Better than ever.
-
Jul 24, 2014Seventeen years after its original release, Abe's Oddysee is still one of the most strange, brilliant, original and funny platform around. This new edition is, indeed, tasty, and no player should miss it.
-
Jul 24, 2014Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a wonderful remake that eliminates all the sharp angles of its predecessor and can stand proudly in front of every modern 2D platformer. Maybe the hardcore gamers will frown in front of the quicksave function, but overall this is one of the best remakes ever made.
-
Jul 23, 2014Somewhere between being remade and being remastered, Abe's back with an adventure that's a little bit easier, but still full of charm.
-
Jul 23, 2014Whether you've never played Abe's Oddysee before or you remember the unique breed of puzzle platforming fondly, there's plenty to love about Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty.
-
Jul 22, 2014A remake should be something that improves what can be improved while not touching the soul of the original game, and New'n Tasty accomplishes this with high marks.
-
Jul 21, 2014More than anything, what really stands out about Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! is the sheer coherency of the original design. It was startling back in 1997 on the PlayStation when games did not often turn up with proper themes to think about, and it's still just as startling in 2014, to be honest, where the grace with which the plot unfolds and the relevance it still has for the real world remain something of an anomaly.
-
Aug 4, 2014Fun, frustrating and funny in equal measure, Oddworld: New and Tasty will give you 6-8 hours of solid gaming, even more if you’re committed to saving all 299 of your enslaved brethren, and the level design and puzzles hold up quite well to today’s standards.

Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaSep 19, 2014Just as delicious as we remember it, but now cut much thicker and slathered with gorgeous graphical garnish. Bon appetit. [October 2014, p74]
-
Aug 29, 2014Abe comes back stronger than ever. A game that plays with our nostalgia using actual technology. 100% recommendable.
-
Aug 6, 2014It’s not quite the brand new Oddworld game for which devout fans have been patiently waiting for nearly a decade, but it certainly whets one’s appetite.
-
Aug 6, 2014With a likeable character, great puzzles and an intriguing world to explore, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty! may be the most compelling adventure game currently available on PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, some gamers will be turned off by the game's deliberate play mechanics and the steep asking price. If you can get past these problems, you'll be rewarded with a quest that is as funny as it is long.
-
Jul 31, 2014Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty is a great example on how to resurrect old games. All the great things from the original coexist with tweaks and improvements, that make the game look and feel modern. You can be a little upset by a high difficulty level and a very weak co-op mode (but that could improve in the next installment, right?), but all in all it's a really good game.
-
Jul 30, 2014What New ‘n’ Tasty does right overwhelmingly outweighs its few annoyances. The level of care that went into this remake will make you fall in love with Oddworld all over again and if you’ve never taken part, now is the perfect time to do so. Just Add Water has proven that we definitely need more Abe.
-
Jul 29, 2014Minor technical problems aside, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a game that recognises the limitations and shortcomings of the original. It addresses these, somehow making 17-year-old mechanics malleable, and shapes them into a mould that painlessly accepts contemporary production standards.
-
Jul 28, 2014Even if you have played through the original already, the enhanced visuals and polished gameplay are reasons enough to take the "oddysee" back.
-
Jul 21, 2014A beautiful remake that irons out nearly all of the problems and limitations of 1997’s Abe's Oddysee while bringing its best qualities to the fore.
-
Aug 8, 2014Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! is a very good remake but it shares a few issues with the first game in the series, namely goofy controls and extremely frustrating moments.
-
Aug 4, 2014Just Add Water manages to walk the fine line with rebuilding the retro feeling and adding a few modern twists, although the finicky controls could definitely be more contemporary.
-
Aug 27, 2014With an "old school" level of difficulty and design and a unique social message, New 'n' Tasty stays true to the spirit of the original, beloved adventure of Abe.
-
Aug 7, 2014Anyone who enjoys puzzle games owes it to themselves to check out this series.
-
Jul 30, 2014Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is what the original game always wanted to be: a truly cinematic platformer. It looks fantastic, sounds brilliant and is great fun to play, despite its occasionally clumsy controls.
-
Jul 29, 2014Whether you have or haven't played Abe's Oddysee, you haven't played New N Tasty. This HD remake is more than a simple reskin of nostalgia, and offers a compelling adventure with contemporary design that will satisfy most anyone's puzzle-platformer appetite.
-
Jul 28, 2014This was clearly a labor of love for Just Add Water, and fans of the original will no doubt experience a similar degree of fervour when they revisit Oddworld, which isn't to say the game's appeal is limited to this crowd.
-
Jul 28, 2014This is still a special game. Other worldly, offbeat and weird – few games have ever been so true to their name.
-
Jul 28, 2014Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a brilliant reinvention of a PlayStation classic. Abe's memorable journey has never played and looked so good.
-
Jul 25, 2014For some of the hardcore fans of the original, New ‘n’ Tasty may disappoint simply because it is different, but – as someone who saved every Mudokon in Abe’s Oddysee – I had a great time revisiting this classic.
-
Jul 24, 2014One of the best remakes ever, but also a puzzle platformer that defies its age to offer an enjoyable challenge to gamers both young and old.
-
Jul 24, 2014Revisiting an old recipe through modern standards is not an easy task. But with the passion and wisdom that Just Add Water poured into it, New 'n' Tasty gets even more delicious. Both beautiful for the eyes and easy on the mouth, this remake offers just the right amount of fresh ingredients to revive Abe's Oddysee, while staying true to the original - and still relevant - approach of Oddworld Inhabitants.
-
Jul 24, 2014Despite the ads, and occasional frustrations from the fiddly analogue movement, this is a remake that feels as though it was crafted with love and respect.
-
Jul 23, 2014Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is everything that you could hope for from a remake: old issues have been resolved, the levels now flow much more naturally, and the world has never looked better.
-
Jul 21, 2014Roughly the same frequently soul-crushing, yet unique and rewarding game it was back in the 90s. Even if you hated it back then, it's probably worth investigating the remake just to see if your puzzle skills have improved, even if there aren't a whole lot of extras ready for you this time around.
-
Aug 1, 2014Still, lovingly designed or not, it's hard to really get into a game where you die constantly and feel like you've got no chance — which is where the nostalgia goggles come in.
