Sniper Elite III's open level designs and objectives pack in more than enough variety and stealthy tension to counterbalance its thin story and shaky enemy intelligence, and experimenting with its explosive traps is almost as fun as popping skulls with a sniper rifle.

Gamers looking to run and gun will be disappointed, but everybody else will get a kick out of this solid World War II shooter.

Once again, Sniper Elite proves to be a really fun and engaging game, despite its numerous bugs at launch.

Sniper Elite 3 comes back with many improvements since V2 and doesn't go worse in any characteristic or mechanic. Although some missions or the killcams may end up being repetitive, the game unfolds as a game which is fun playing, although the plot is nothing to be proud of. Co-op and competitive modes help expanding the game's lifespan. However, visuals may lack something to be truly next gen.

There’s also a co-op mode by the name of Overwatch, which allows one player to spot target for the other and works well over the larger maps. It’s just a pity that there are only two such maps available, resulting in a tight-fisted experience.

Sniper Elite 3 definitely improves the rare but rewarding genre of open-world sniping. Being thoughtful about each shot instills a sense of companionship with your rifle, and we definitely felt an unexpected bond with our terrifying tool of death. Everything involving firing that rifle is fun, it’s just too bad the other elements in the game aren’t as impactful.

Sniper Elite III delivers a solid, less linear tactical gameplay than the previous episodes, but still suffers from some shortcomings.

Third time is not the charm. AI is still bad, but offers moving targets for sniping, which is still pretty fun. You don’t need to always hit the bulls eye. [Oct 2014]

For the few things that aren’t quite up to snuff, Sniper Elite III gets a whole lot right.

Sniper Elite III is a mediocre game with a gimmick that escalates it to be more enjoyable than it should be.

While not without its flaws, Sniper Elite 3 remains a compelling, tactically-rewarding shooter that fans of the genre would do well to snap up asap.

Opening up the levels could've been a great push forward for the brand, but it has brought a whole new breed of issues to the table. AI lacks perception, bugs show up all too often, and objectives are repetitive. The sniping, that still works well, even if untouched from the previous chapter.

But this is progress, all the same. Sure, Sniper Elite III is rough around the edges, but it offers just enough that it makes up for all that. It succeeds as a shooter thanks in large part to that crunchiness, yet as a sequel it is improved in clearly defined, tangible ways.

With its high-quality ballistic modelling and gruesome death scenes, Sniper Elite 3 offers exactly what fans of the series demand, but still comes nowhere near living up to its potential.

Sniper Elite 3 is a fun but somewhat flawed game. Thanks to open levels it’s possible to decide your own path to the target, and whether you want to get there by shooting every enemy or just sneak past them. An entertaining experience that’s better than it should be.

Sniper Elite III is the best entry in the series to date. It still has some issues that stop it from being a truly great stealth shooter, but what’s here is a great extension to the franchise that pushes it in the right direction to unlock some of the potential this series can evolve into.

Sniper Elite III is a step in the right direction. We've still got a ways to go but the improvements here are obvious and appreciated, and greatly enhances the fun factor and general quality.

Even though it doesn't meet the high expectations of the fans of the series, Sniper Elite III is a good title for the sniper lovers and for those who are looking for an unusual take on World War II.

Sniper Elite 3 is a great title, probably the best in the market for the sniping fans. Unbeaten with regard to the competition, the game still shows several shortcomings, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, exacerbated by open world maps that amplify the problems.

Those who are after more than just another run-and-gun game will do well here, and the inclusion of two player co-op is the icing on the cake. Unfortunately the game is dragged down slightly by the number of glitches, which somewhat ruin the immersion.

If you can't get enough of dramatic, transparent shots of enemies getting shredded by sniper fire, Sniper Elite III has you covered in spades. If you're interested in more motivation beyond the glory of the kill, look elsewhere.

It's an enjoyable and accessible shooter, though the lackluster AI, shortage of innovation, uninspired level design and over-used killcam keep it from rising above mediocrity.

The somewhat ridiculous bugs and some slight repetition leave Sniper Elite III just short of joining the elite action pack alongside other games. In itself, it's still a pretty good experience for those who like to leave their mark from a distance.

It's a shallow, crude pleasure, but the delightful disorder that's just around every corner is strong enough to overshadow an otherwise forgettable experience.

It could have been a really good game, with a good script and a better staging. But the shot misses its target.

Recommended if you like the genre (there are not many games centered on sniping, anyway), but Sniper Elite 3 is clearly not one of the best shooters out there.

Though its stealth-based sniping gameplay can provide some exciting moments, Sniper Elite III is a decidedly mixed bag. Its abysmal narrative, outdated mission design, boring protagonist and weak non-campaign modes overshadow everything that it does well.

Sniper Elite III will deliver satisfaction to the sniping fans, but its lack of finitions is really penalizing.

Sniper Elite III’s gory killcams and open-ended arenas succeed at making the act of sniping more involved and rewarding than you’ll find in most other shooters, but it struggles to flesh out a complete game experience around that one mechanic.
  40. 50
Overall, Sniper Elite 3 does have a fun kill-cam feature, it does have online co-op and it does have an interesting multiplayer. But, almost everything about it feels like a rushed product that simply cannot be ignored.

But content is no substitute for quality, and while Sniper Elite III might have made for an engaging design document, it isn’t much of a game.

It is repetitive but refined (mostly) and the sniping is extremely satisfying. There are however a number of game-breaking bugs floating around in the code which were clearly overlooked due to slapdash work ethic or incompetent testers, perhaps both. Read the forums for more detail, there are a lot of problems...

Shaky sound design doesn't help as you can hear enemies but are unable to pinpoint their location as the sound is essentially unidirectional and this is terrible for immersion. Game looks great and runs smoothly for the most part.

This is a great game littered with imbecilic oversights, get it once it's fixed.

You will enjoy this if you like sneaking around and picking of enemies slowly but when the **** hits the fan or when bugs starting popping up, which both happen at a steady pace, this games biggest flaws come to show.. Mediocre.
