At its core, Tekken 7 is the ultimate Tekken experience. While paying tribute to previous games in the series, it’s also made for the hardcore Tekken fan in mind. Newcomers will also love it once you get a feel for the unique fight system. There isn’t much I didn’t enjoy with during my time with Tekken 7, other than it makes me want a new Soul Caliber with the same TLC that went into this game. I highly recommend picking up Tekken 7.

Experience the epic conclusion of the Mishima clan and unravel the reasons behind each step of their ceaseless fight. Powered by Unreal Engine 4, Tekken 7 features story-driven cinematic battles and intense duels that can be enjoyed with friends and rivals alike through innovative fight mechanics.
  3. Jun 21, 2017
What’s even more exciting is that it gave me and most of the other players, a new reason to memorize gamepad combinations, and to find new ways to humiliate our friends. And I know that I can't ask for anything more than that.
  4. Jun 3, 2017
Tekken 7 truly is a hallmark, a fighting game crafted with obvious affection. It strikes a fine balance between accessibility to series newcomers and retaining much of its technical traditions. The soundtrack is an electronic treat, and while the story can at times seem a bit cliche, the fact that it never takes itself too seriously lets it bring in a tremendous amount of flexible character customization. Its dedication to the details helps push it into the position of my favorite fighting game of 2017 so far.

This is the pinnacle of the Tekken series – a joy to play, with a wealth of content, that's as challenging and precise for aficionados as it is inviting and engaging for neophytes. A masterpiece of the fighting genre.

Welcoming back old hands and encouraging newcomers, Tekken 7 beats its own path and ensures that you want to walk it, kicking various backsides along the way. [Aug 2017, p.83]

The most accessible Tekken in ages keeps you on the edge of your seat with its top-notch gameplay mechanics which ensure that what happens on screen is always unpredictable and exciting. A new worthy king! [08/2017, p.48]
  8. Jul 7, 2017
Tekken 7 is a culmination of many things. It’s decades worth of unabashed soap-opera storytelling. It’s years of mechanical complexity, honed to a keen edge. It’s a celebration of the clutch moments that make fighting games what they are. Tekken 7 is the pinnacle of the franchise, and one of the best fighting games on the market.
  9. Jun 21, 2017
Tekken 7 looks familiar for fans of the series, but it is much better and stronger than previous installments in the franchise. Very enjoyable combat mechanics, a huge roster full of different and interesting characters with varied fighting styles, and brilliant music all combine perfectly to form one the best Tekken games we’ve ever seen. Tekken 7 can easily find a place your daily routine.
  10. Jun 5, 2017
Tekken 7 is the first modern fighting game I've played that really seems to maintain the feel of the classics in its entirety. As much fun as the results of the genre's evolution has been, there's always going to be a place in the gaming collective for the classics, and Tekken 7 is fundamentally just that. It's nearly perfect as a core Tekken experience. The only thing that was truly disappointing was the lack of Tekken Ball.
  11. Jun 5, 2017
Tekken 7’s greatest strength is being accessible to all type of players, whether you are a beginner or long time fan of the series. The addition of the Rage mechanics and a full-fledged story mode makes it an even more complete package, perfect for all and not just fighting game fans.
  12. 90
Tekken 7 is the complete package, full of franchise history and tons of extra content.
  13. Jun 5, 2017
Tekken 7 is a phenomenal fighting game experience and one I’d highly recommend. It’s by no means perfect, as the game is not without a few technical issues online, some long loading times, and minor continuity errors, yet as far as most people will be concerned, it delivers a stunning, up-to-date fighting game experience from one of the masters of arcade fighting games. A solid return to form.
  14. Jun 2, 2017
This is possibly the best Tekken has ever been, and a slightly slim selection of modes can’t take away from that. If you want one of the best fighting games to be released this year, Tekken 7 is essential.
  15. Jun 2, 2017
One of the most important game in the Tekken franchise. Makes great changes in the playability and adds three new elements for advanced players. Strong in the online and great in the solo content.
  16. Jun 2, 2017
Tekken has returned, better than ever. Its gameplay is still fresh and features new elements such as the Rage Arts, which increases the excitement of every match. The customization is fun, entertaining and sports thousands of possibilities. A must-buy for genre fans.
  17. Jun 1, 2017
The new features make it feel like a true step forward for the series, with the most noticeable changes to the gameplay since Tekken 4. The game is solid and fun as always, and holds hundreds of hours of fighting action.
  18. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 is the epic conclusion to the Mishima family feud. The game looks great, is fully loaded with characters and offers a lot of modes. And it plays like a charm. It has some minor flaws, but nonetheless this is simply a must-buy.
  19. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 is definitely a big guy. A new engine, new characters, new combat techniques and a lot of new game modes and options. It doesn't have the amount of content found in Injustice 2, but the way the familiar combat system makes you feel so powerful is still unmatched.
  20. Jun 15, 2017
For the first time in nearly a decade it feels like the Tekken series has undergone an evolution of sorts, with the Rage Arts and Drive mechanics making for a decidedly different feeling game. Your mileage may vary in regards to these changes but to be fair you’re never forced to employ Rage Arts and can elect to continue to duke it out old school if that’s more your speed. Technically this is the most accomplished Tekken title yet and despite the somewhat lukewarm campaign mode there is more than enough content to keep everyone from novices to the Kings of Iron Fist Tournament themselves busy for months to come.
  21. Jun 3, 2017
Newcomers to Tekken may find the learning curve to be a tad bit high and accessibility to resources lacking, but self-driven investigation on combos as well as tips and tricks is all part of the fun. It’s also a surprisingly suitable entry point for newcomers to learn about the Tekken universe and returning fans to have a recap.
  22. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 had quite a lot of time to perfect its characters and systems, and it shows. What we have here is one of the best fighting games of this generation, held back only by a spectacular but ridiculous and short story mode (that is still quite fun to play, nonetheless). Long live the king.
  23. May 31, 2017
Brave, funky and satisfying work, Tekken 7 is the purest expression of what, on the rather lazy front, should be a fighting game.

The most gratifying fighting game for anyone intimidated by Street Fighter's grueling technicality. [July 2017, p.70]
  25. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 is one of the best games in the series gameplay-wise, but it's a little short in terms of single-player modes.
  26. May 31, 2017
The franchise offer a more than correct update and this game becomes one of the most appealing offers in the genre, although some rivals seem to surpass it technically.
  27. Jun 30, 2017
By offering rich content, a great multiplayer experience and some of the most beautiful graphics we've seen in a 3D fighter, Tekken 7 is indeed the king of the Iron Fist Tournament.
  28. Jun 20, 2017
Overall Tekken 7 is a definite improvement over past Tekken games and the overall fighting system seems to be evolving well with new enhancements that seem to fit in well with established features. My only main gripes with the game are the prolonged story mode and the stripped single player content. If you're buying Tekken 7 for its online modes, you'll get the most out of the game since the online is smooth and the new tournament mode is a great new feature. No matter what, Tekken is in a league all its own when it comes to comparing it to all other fighters and Tekken 7 is easily the best version of the series yet, so you owe it to yourself to pick up this latest installment if you're a fan of the series!
  29. Jun 9, 2017
There's no denying Tekken 7 is one of the best fighters around, and once the online servers are fixed, it has the potential to be the best fighters out there.
  30. Jun 8, 2017
Tekken 7 doesn't quite deliver the storyline punch fans of the franchise were promised, but purely as a 3D fighting game, you really can't do any better than this.
  31. Jun 6, 2017
Finally joining the fray for PlayStation 4, Tekken 7 is an excellent blend of action and detailed characters. With deep mechanics and fun gameplay, it’s a worthy installment to one of the most prolific fighting series in history.
  32. Jun 2, 2017
New engine, new characters, new combat techniques and new game modes. Tekken 7 is still the king of 3D fighting games, but there should have been some more risk and evolution of the franchise after so many years of waiting. The story of the Mishima is the central mode, but it fails to satisfy us as much as it had promised to the core fans.
  33. Jun 2, 2017
Forget the tacked on VR (dis-)experience. It is just nuances that seperates Tekken 7 from other beat-em-up heavyweights that seem to be released basically simultaneously . If you can look past a few visual shortcomings and a sometimes weird dramatization you’ll be rewarded with one of the deepest combo-filled fighters out there that will give Injustice’s superheroes a run for their money.
  34. 85
Aside from some perplexing omissions, Tekken 7 is a roaring success where it truly matters; in its mechanics, its dynamism, and its ability to engage the player through its concise presentation. Make no mistake, the King is back.
  35. Jun 1, 2017
With Tekken 7, Katushiro Harada shows an impressive understanding of what makes a good gameplay mechanic on 3D versus fighting games. Only the technical standpoint is prone to critique in this game.
  36. 85
There are so many moves for each character, mastering even one complete move set will take nothing less than complete dedication. While it doesn’t feel as though Namco Bandai has done much to innovate in the genre from the surface, those who prefer Tekken’s brand of fighting than those of Capcom’s or NetherRealm’s will be in for a treat.
  37. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 is a fighting game with a great gameplay, but with little content in the single player mode. The story, however, is pleasing and full of content, unlike what happened in the previous chapters. Tekken 7 is the most balanced and immediate Tekken ever.
  38. Oct 19, 2017
Tekken 7 is very much Tekken, exactly like you've always known it. Luckily the game knows how to get maximum gain out of seemingly minimal additions, like the flashy Rage Arts, tactical Power Crushes and surprisingly spectacular presence of Street Fighter icon Akuma. But due to the pretentious and disappointing single-player content it will never be a classic.
  39. Jun 2, 2017
After the disappointing sixth installment, Tekken 7 has once again become a very good Tekken, positioning itself between Street Fighter 5 and the upside.
  40. Jun 2, 2017
Tekken 7 is not the best entry in the series and lacks some single-player content, but when it comes to offering gorgeous combat against friends and other people online, here it is: the King is back with outstanding battle mechanics and plenty of characters to learn. If you don't prefer Injustice 2, here you have your new main fighting game of the season.
  41. Jun 3, 2017
Tekken 7 is a great game that fulfills all that is promises: it offers great and deep gameplay mechanics, enjoyable game modes, a cast of colorful and diverse characters, and splendid cinematics and scenarios. Sadly, all of its content doesn't go beyond what any other fighting game offers and one of its most important features (the Story Mode) doesn't work so well. Overall, it's a good game that, without a doubt, could have been better.
  42. Jul 10, 2017
Tekken 7 has reached a peak for the franchise in terms of combat quality and character variety. However, some online issues and lack of diverse modes for both online and offline play hamstring the game a bit. Still, whether you are a Tekken fan or fighting veteran, or complete newcomer, there's a lot here to get stuck into.

A large dash-step behind the generous content found in Injustice 2, but still represents a knuckle sandwich we’ll happily chew on for months. [August 2017, p72]
  44. 80
Tekken 7 is a truly special fighter. Injustice 2 was more accessible and newbie-friendly, and the Street Fighter franchise still possesses more nuance, but Tekken 7 falls somewhere in the middle - and it remains a ton of fun.
  45. Jun 9, 2017
The fighting system is still solid.
  46. Jun 6, 2017
While Tekken 7 doesn't offer a lot of varied game modes, it excels with the ones that it does feature. The fighting features enough new additions and familiarity to appease experts, while remaining as accessible as ever for newcomers. On top of that, the numerous customization options ensure that there's always something worth fighting for, in-between trying to prove dominance online. The Mishima Saga carries on the series legacy in the sense that it's a mess of a story, but even that spotlights how well Tekken's visuals have adapted to the new generation of hardware. With an iron fist, Tekken 7 proves that it deserves to stand with the best in the genre.
  47. Jun 6, 2017
The King of the Iron Fist may feel rusty in its sparse selection of story and offline offerings, but the real magic is found online where its arcade spirit keeps it not only alive but also relevant for a wider connected community from across the globe.
  48. 80
Few fighting games have had the longevity of the Tekken series, but Tekken 7 manages to both refine and add new wrinkles to an already solid formula. Wonky online issues aside, this is the best the series has looked in a decade.
  49. Jun 5, 2017
Its diverse roster is packed with a wide range of personalities and fighting styles, bolstered by a raucous attitude that begs to be taken seriously while simultaneously mocking its more peculiar whims in the process. Tekken fans will find their next favorite game--one that's the product of decade's worth of refinement. And while some of this depth will be lost or out of reach for newcomers, there's enough fun to be had outside of hardcore competition to keep players from all walks of gaming thoroughly entertained.
  50. Jun 5, 2017
Tekken 7 is very much alike Tekken 3 when it comes to balance and level, combined with the quality of a Soul Calibur 2. It is a competitive game with good gameplay mechanics, but simply too few interesting modes.
  51. Jun 5, 2017
Tekken 7 is a bit disappointing in terms of graphics and game modes, but its typical gameplay, easy to pick up and hard to master, is still one of the best in its genre.
  52. Jun 2, 2017
I think Tekken 7 is a fantastic fighter – albeit one that’s hobbled by a front-and-center single-player mode that’s unsatisfying on its own and does little to help players understand what makes the core gameplay so solid. Players have been waiting a long time for this game, and more than anything, I’m glad that it’s finally in the hands of Tekken fans worldwide. But in an increasingly competitive market for the attention of both casual and competitive fighting game players, it feels like the iron fist doesn’t hit quite as hard as it should.
  53. 80
For better or worse Tekken 7 stays grounded to its arcade roots. The console fighting game scene seems to have changed in the meantime.
  54. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 may not be the perfect entry point for newcomers into the long and twisted narrative that follows the Mishima Zaibatsu, but they will unmistakably have fun with the rock solid gameplay and mechanics. With the addictive Treasure Battle mode, deep character customization, and strong character options, Tekken 7 is one of the best titles in the 23 year-old series.
  55. May 31, 2017
Tekken with better graphics is not exactly a new pitch for the series, but there’s no denying the gameplay and characters are still a huge amount of fun.
  56. May 31, 2017
This one’s for fans of the franchise and fans of the genre. After a long drought on consoles, Tekken is back — and with a vengeance. Innovative enough to keep long-time fans happy, this release manages to stick to what it does best. Get ready for the next battle.
  57. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 has continuist gameplay options, not as innovative as we would like, although fair enough to keep us entertained for several hours, with many unlockables that add layers to character customization. Bandai Namco offers the well-known gameplay mechanics of the franchise and offer new aspects like Rage moves, although it offers an unamusing story mode, and several new characters with lack of carisma and not so well designed. Franchise veterans will be the ones to fully enjoy it.
  58. May 31, 2017
For those hardcore players there’s plenty to enjoy from the deep, rewarding and varied roster of characters, fully featured and seemingly lag-free online modes, as well as the refinements to the core combat that make Tekken 7 the best since Tekken 3.
  59. May 31, 2017
Despite some narrative missteps, Tekken 7 is still a compelling, exhilarating experience. Find the right sparring partner and it will entertain you indefinitely.
  60. May 31, 2017
In terms of gameplay, Tekken 7 is masterful. Its overhauled rage system gives its already punchy combat a whole new dynamic, while helping to level the playing field for more casual players. Its story mode isn't quite the blockbuster that it thinks it is, but the insanely addictive treasure battle makes up for that on the single player front. Meanwhile, its online components can't be faulted – the newly introduced tournaments being a real highlight. Tekken 7 is a fantastic fighting game, and one of the best entries in the series.
  61. May 31, 2017
It gets so many things right, with its combat that feels like a substantial improvement over its predecessors and a solid roster that includes Akuma, one of my favorite fighting game characters of all time. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy my time with the game, and I certainly plan on returning back to my PS4 for more. However, I can just as honestly say that the single-player component often felt like a chore that got in the way of the series’ best story.
  62. May 31, 2017
I was pleasantly surprised with Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, and will be keeping up with the meta and pro scene for the first time in years. While Harada and his crew could have easily given us a little more to do long term other than chase more treasure, it doesn't feel like grinding in the slightest given how fun it is to play.
  63. May 31, 2017
The final product is a strong contender, offering a mostly smooth online experience, gorgeous visuals, and clever twists on a combat system that flips between methodical and frantic in a heartbeat. But in other ways, Tekken 7 feels like a missed opportunity and (ironically) a rush job.
  64. 80
For all the effort at making Tekken more accessible, Tekken 7 remains, ultimately, a fight club for the most serious of players only.
  65. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 is what the Tekken FGC was waiting for. Awesome gameplay, new mechanics, great characters and a good amount of contents. Something is still off, but the overall experience is fun, deep and entertaining.
  66. May 31, 2017
While the gaming system remains solid and to some extent accessible, TEKKEN 7 almost does not add to the legacy of the franchise. Individual modes are few, story mode is poorly achieved and although modes like Treasure Battle is addictive and fun, it is not enough.
  67. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7, the latest entry in the long-running franchise, delivers what fighting genre fans love about multiplayer battles, but there isn’t enough new material to make it truly stand out from the increasingly competitive options in the fighting genre.
  68. May 31, 2017
Whether you like Tekken 7 will depend on your knowledge of Tekken. If you are a die hard fan waiting for something new and crazy to happen to the franchise, this will be a disappointment. If you are relatively new to the series and you just want to play with your friends or online, Tekken 7 will definitely do the trick.
  69. Jun 13, 2017
With so much content from the rest of the series present here, Tekken 7 is a celebration of the franchise up to this point. The amped-up combat mechanics and the poignant conclusion to the Mishima story are all steps forward, but they are countered by a number of steps back. The lack of a tutorial, forgettable soundtrack, and absence of some staple gameplay modes may alienate newcomers and leave veteran players wanting.
  70. Jun 8, 2017
The frenetic fighting and over-the-top fun of Tekken 7 is great, but it's let down by light offline modes and online matchmaking that, right now, simply isn't working well enough.
  71. Jun 6, 2017
I really wanted my favorite beat'em up series to reclaim the throne. Unfortunately, right now Tekken 7 hasn't got enough content and polish to do so (plus the competition - Injustice 2 - is fierce!). The fighting system is still superb but the entire game looks outdated. The story mode is poor, the online modes are now a a joke and there are some things missing as compared to the previous games.
  72. Jun 5, 2017
Make no mistake, Tekken 7 is a game for diehard fans of the series. It features solid combat and a story that, while not very strong, can justify fans wanting a solid conclusion to the nearly 25-year-long Mishima Saga. Unfortunately, this installment falters when it comes to everything else.
  73. Jun 2, 2017
Honestly, Tekken 7 is a content predictable fighting game surviving off the back of it’s relatively unchanged combat system.
  74. May 31, 2017
Tekken 7 is institutional progress and austere form cloaked in spectacle and absent of risk. Its periphery can’t keep pace with 2017 and its core feels like it’s running the same race Tekken already won almost a decade ago. This doesn’t stop Tekken 7 from being the best 3D fighter on current platforms, but it’s easy to stand atop a podium unchallenged by legitimate competitors.
  75. Edge Magazine
    Jun 22, 2017
Tekken 7 feels cynically put together, a solid but ultimately 20-year-old fighting system freshened up with mechanical twists and bulked out with gimmicks rather than gilded with the series' signature personality. [Aug 2017, p.114]
  76. Jun 6, 2017
The game pays compulsory lip service to everything that's not about getting pro players online.
  77. Jun 6, 2017
In Local and Private lobbies, Tekken 7 is almost perfect, but comes short of greatness when it comes to looking at the full package, which is a frustrating disappointment.
  78. Jun 1, 2017
Tekken 7 has the barebones basics for a good fighter, but it’s missing the trimmings that make it worth recommending over bigger, and cheaper competition.

NetherRealm has shown what can be done to make the genre appeal to those who don't fancy getting torn to shreds online. Unfortunately the developers at Bandai Namco's Tekken team seemingly failed to notice.
  2. Jun 6, 2017
If you’re timid about bringing your fighting skills to the online arena, that’s fine. There are other fighting games out right now that will give you that single-player fix. But if you’re ready to hit and kick other players until they stop moving, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newbie just getting your feet wet, Tekken 7 is the real deal.
  3. Jun 13, 2017
What follows is the tale of a family of cursed assholes, literal and figurative monsters who let their personal vendettas and unchecked power throw the entire world into chaos. It positions Tekken 7 as the hard reboot and refocusing the series needed, giving it the same treatment Mortal Kombat received with its stellar 2011 revival.

I had been waiting for this game for years. and i can say tekken 7 is the best fighting game of current generation and it worth waiting.
the story is OK but i expected a much better and longer story but it's already exciting but some new players who don't know the story might not get it.
the fighting system can't be any better they have improved tekken's awesome gameplay in the best way possible with new moves like rage art.and there are several enjoyable modes like arcade mode and treasure tournament mode is the best new addition. the only disappointing thing is that they have removed "team battle" mode which was the best offline mode since tekken 3 to tag 2 and me and my brother and my cousins played this mode more than any mode i hope they will bring this mode back with an update. and there is no reason for absence of "lei", "anna" and "roger jr" in characters i hope they return.

the graphics are much better than previous titles but the game runs at 900p on ps4 and it's kind of annoying while much graphically heavier and more realistic games like injustice 2 and gta v .etc run at 1080p on ps4 but it's still beautiful to look at and play.

although I've never been a fan of rock and metallic music i love game's musics and jukebox feature allows you to listen to all memorable musics from previous games.

Tekken 7 is the best game in the series but they have to improve it by updates.

The next installment to the tekken series is here and I have to say that I am enjoying it but it is far from a perfect game. The story is moreThe next installment to the tekken series is here and I have to say that I am enjoying it but it is far from a perfect game. The story is more focused around the Mishima's which makes sense since the series has pretty much revolved around Heihachi, Kazuya, and Jin. It is pretty short and can be finished within 2-3 hours depending on whether or not the computer doesn't beat on you and once it is done you unlock other character's sidestory fights that don't necessarily tie into the Mishima's.

The combat system flows really well and rewarding when you execute a good combo in a certain order. Rage arts are cool but really simple to pull off (either it is just pressing 2 buttons at the same time or it is hold a certain direction + 2 buttons at the same time) except for Akuma's at least.

The roster has been decreased to 38 fighters but more have been promised to be added later. So far all the doubles have been removed like Christie, Armor King, Anna, and Baek are gone as well as Lei, Wang, Marduk, Bruce, and Roger jr.

Single player game modes, like arcade, have been kinda made pointless since all it does is earn you fight money which you can earn in treasure battle plus cosmetics which can either be added to all characters or just one in particular.

Online for me was laggy as hell and I could hardly connect to other players so I can't really talk about it.

Tekken is a great fighting game if you are looking to play with friends and family locally. Though you should probably wait for it to go on sale, due to its lack of modes and really short story, unless you have the money to spend
