Game is fun until Zack starts talking.

THE PRICE OF RICK GOMEZ IS STEEP.

Another nostalgia bait from Square Enix, with somewhat better graphics and atmosphere-breaking remixed soundtracks, not to mention the worst re-recording ever, especially on Zack the new va totally deprived the charm of character
They seriously need to stop milking FF7 besides there are much more possibilities in enhancing other numbering ones

It's (unfortunately only) passable. Serviceable. It does look good, and it does have some of those magical surprises that made FF7(R) great. As others said: The dialogue writing is showing its age, but is still acceptable. The story itself isn't too shabby, so if you're just looking for more of that FF7-realm magic, you might get what you look for. The battle system works good enough,It's (unfortunately only) passable. The battle system works good enough, though a little more tactical engagement would have been nice. Materia Fusion is pretty cool. All in all, it's a good, solid 7, BUT: The price point is -for what it actually is, a good looking remaster- a little too steep. If this was a $39,99 title, it'd be a 7.5. Expand

I don't understand how this game can have such high rating. It's by far one of the worst FF games I've played.

    1. The gameplay is extremely dated. Unless you played the original and want to play this for nostalgia, stay away. 2. The missions is a joke. Most bland and repetitive thing I've seen in a game. 3. The writing is laughably bad. 4. Story is mainly a back-story of Zack,

    4. Story is mainly a back-story of Zack, Angeal and Genesis and is mostly forgetable. It would be more suited for a DLC than an entire game.

    5. The game can easily be completed in 10 hours making it basically the shortest FF game out there.

This game is definitely not worth $60. If you played the original you might find some nostalgia here, but otherwise do yourself a favour and spend your money on something else.

While the story and gameplay are enjoyable, the missions jump from easy difficulty to a scheme that completely foregoes skill, level, equipment, and reaction time in favor of intense repetition until pure luck prevails. Rinse and repeat said missions for 50% of endgame content. Would not recommend this game if you expect more than 10 hours of good content for your $50.

Outdated level design even for 2008, the year when the original Crisis Core was released. Missed opportunity to fix some of the mediocre fan fiction-quality writing, dialogue, inconsistencies and retcons this game had while trying to adapt sequences from the OG FF7. Lazy CGI cinematics that were just AI upscaled instead of adapting costumes from the new FF7Remake timeline where this game is a prequel to. Vast majority of the characters that appeared in the OG FF7 feel like a parody of themselves and the characters that appear for the first time in this game are utter trash (specially the game's main villain, Genesis) outside of just one. So half a point for every good character in this game: Zack, Cloud, Sephiroth and Cissnei. Expand

A neat remaster that sometimes clashes with its PSP origins. More often than not, it comes out on top, but it feels like it could have broken more limits. [Issue#23, p.74]

As a prequel to one of gaming’s most beloved classics, Crisis Core did a great job of enriching the original game’s world as an action RPG on the PSP. This remaster not only enhances the visuals but also improves on many of the original’s shortcomings. While there still are some inconveniences, altogether Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is an exhilarating experience from start to finish.

A beautiful looking remaster which doesn’t manage to significantly upgrade its source material in aspects other than graphics. Only faithful Final Fantasy VII fans who didn’t get to play it on the PSP will leave truly satisfied.
