    By focusing on surprising customization but not on a deep combat system or gameplay, LEGO Brawls is a decent digital hobby for LEGO collectors rather than a stimulating brawler game for competitive gamers.

    While LEGO Brawls features both long-term themes like Ninjago and new ones like Hidden Side, the game lacks variety and a focus on gameplay. While you can unlock new parts for your minifig, those parts have no effect on gameplay. The lack of gameplay depth limits the time you want to spend on this game before is becomes too repititive, which is too bad as LEGO has more than enough variation in its themes and characters. All in all the feeling remains that this could have been a lot better.

    After the success of Lego Brawls on the Apple Arcade subscription service, porting it for all major consoles and PC seemed like the next logical step. However, after I played with the game for a while and found out its pricing, I couldn’t root for it anymore. Even though there are wonderful plasticky ideas and I almost laughed my bricky bottom off while playing with my partner, it still plays like a mobile game priced as a AAA title.

    I really wanted to like Lego Brawls, it is such a cool idea. Sadly the fact is, it is just a bad game. Not bad in an overly broken or offensive way. Bad because it seems to delight in mediocrity. Everything feels half-baked and half-realised, kind of like my 16-year-old’s homework, and it means it quickly squandered any potential in the idea of a Lego Smash Bros.

    Cool idea, terrible execution. In the long run, LEGO Brawls is simply boring, very often chaotic and not varied enough in terms of gameplay. Yes, there are tons of bricks to unlock and some neat special skills, but it doesn’t save the game. If you feel you need to check it out, I recommend you play locally with your kids.

    LEGO Brawls feels like an insult to LEGO fans after the fantastic LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga released earlier this year. From the terrible core gameplay to the incredibly grindy unlock system, there are very few redeeming qualities to this package. If you're really desperate to build your own minifigure, most LEGO games already have a character creator of their own. Your time and money are best spent elsewhere.

    Good character customization; decent graphics.
    Bad- Lackluster game modes; stingy progression; little variety amongst Brawlers;    Good-

    Thoughts-
    Of course, some of these problems wouldn’t have stuck out that much if the game would have been a part of a subscription service, like it was the case with the mobile release that was included in Apple Arcade. But even at its half-retail price, LEGO Brawls just can’t justify its price tag – and is a forgettable brawler that doesn’t offer much for anyone wanting a meaningful and captivating experience from this game.    … Expand

    This game has a terrible combat system. The greedy developers are asking $40 for a game that should have been free-to-play, or $10 at best. ItThis game has a terrible combat system. If they want to charge a ridiculous price of $40, I expect a combat system with depth and detail. All these cheap and lazy developers did in this game is put pretty lights during every move, to give players the illusion that the game is fun. None of that is fun for me. It gets so boring and repetitive.

    The multiplayer is a joke. The physics are pathetic. I jumped into a roof of a building and my character's entire head clipped through it. The only redeemable quality is the customization and unlocks for it. Even then, I am not really that impressed that Lego characters can have good customization options, when there is only one Lego human model. I only recommend this game until it is $10 or less.    … Expand
