While I don’t think Criminal Girls 2 goes anywhere near far enough to be the extreme Sadean experience that it clearly wants to be, at least we have a game that achieves something down that path. Art needs extreme experiences, and genuinely extreme experiences (aside from those laden with gore) are rare indeed in this industry. Kudos to NISA for not only taking a chance on the first Criminal Girls, but backing up its faith that people do appreciate this kind of experience by localising the second too.
Some people are always going to look down on this series because of the mini-games and the sadomasochistic theme. But don’t worry, the game is very quick to point out at the beginning that it’s all completely consensual.
We´ve got quite the interesting rpg right here.
The gameplay is rather unique and breaks the monotony of many similar games while leveling up, I found it rather addicting.
As for the mini games to unlock and improve abilities, they may not be for everyone but it´s one of the series main characteristics. (Plus it no longer has the annoying fog that the first one suffered of)
The artwork is beautiful, `nuff said.
TL;DR: Addictive gameplay, well made pervy minigames. Not to be played in public.
Improves over the first game in every way. Great voicework, visuals, tight music, etc. There's less party members but the S & M system and the writing don't make you miss them.
If you can look past the sadomasochism theme (and I won’t blame anyone who can’t as it constantly irked me the wrong way) then you’ll find a redeeming RPG. The star of Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors is its battle system, which is a fun twist on turn-based gaming. While I wish it was in a different game, for now I’ll have to stoop to spanking girls that clearly don’t enjoy it in order to experience it.
Criminal Girls 2: Party Favors is a niche release for sure, but it's also a solid RPG experience which is ideally suited to the Vita. If you've got Sony's handheld device and an open mind regarding how female fighters should be motivated, then this is a slice of good quality JPRG that can provide many hours of battling pleasure. Just take our advice and try not to play it in public.
For the lewd, ecchi lovers. If you arent an RPG, Ecchi, Anime, fan. this game may not be for you. This game was heavily censored down, but from a mechanical standpoint it is much more enjoyable than the original. This one has the same premise but a better story, better soundtrack, and better characters. The dungeon crawling has the same aspects but combat feels much more intuitive, and the motivation scenes really give this game its rating. a high pick for those looking to spice things up in the dungeon
Wow! This was fun! Defs an upgrade in art from the first game! {which I played in like 2014? I dont actually know... its been a few years. possibly even 8? Thats 2022 - 2014. Its just math.} But man! these girls be BUSSIN! {I dunno know what that means, but a guy at my work said that about my chicken fried rice once, and it sounds right right to use it here? I dunno... also it was not "bussin" chicken fried rice. Ill have you know, I only swallowed one bite. I threw the rest away, cuz it wasnt very 'bussin'} ANYWAYS! The RPG elements were great! The gameplay and story are very solid! Perhaps an improvement on Criminal Girls 1? But like I said its been like 8 years {or so}. some of the bosses were kinda awful. I wish they put more work into them besides just doing massive debuffs, but hey, Im just a guy. But if I worked as a game dev, Im sure this game woulda been a 10/10, cuz im pretty good ya know? Operation Ball was the best move imo. Not cuz of damage, I just liked how it sounded. so much so that I made a Twitch redeem out of it!! {Id plug my twitch here, but that feels irrelevant, since this is a review, and not a place to put myself out there. I wanna earn my stripes the right way! Not through Metacritic. Im sure you understand. BUT if you wanna check me out, find me! If you do, Ill give you a hi five through my webcam cuz thats the most I can afford right now, since I only work like 5 hours a week.} Overall, This is a gem on the Vita! Find it, buy it at any cost {unless you work like 5 hours a week like me, then borrow it from a friend like I did.} and play it! You wont regret it! 8/10, 2nd best Vita game ive played thus far! {Check out my twitch channel cuz Ill eventually play my favorite Vita game on there! I wont say the name of it here since my chat might see and I want it to be a surprise. But ill totally play it someday!}
Characters are pretty solid, but some of the fun when motivating (as it's not about punishment) the girls has lost some of it's bite. Especially compared to the Japanese version. The system in which you can change how the girls address you and all voices in general is just gone. Other then that, the story is still okay, but it certainly feels like something is missing. Gameplay is the same as the first game minus some slight improvements. The soundtrack is more or less similarly forgettable. Development and the story is alright, but when weighed against everything else, I couldn't see myself recommending this to anybody who wants a complete game. Sorry NISA.
