Aqua Kitty UDX is a robust arcade shooter with an adorable cat aesthetic. The game offers a good level of challenge and chaos to keep you on your toes. It's let down slightly by some uninspired backgrounds but offers lots of fun on the Nintendo Switch.
Aqua Kitty UDX is a very strong arcade shooter that displays sharp gameplay and addictive game modes. It's not particularly original, but if you're one for chasing high scores, you'll have a blast, particularly if you bring a friend along for the ride.
I got this Game when it was dirt cheap in the E-Shop. No big expectations. When i played it for the first time it blew my mind. Coulden't stop to play it for 5 hours. I am not even a big Defender-like or Shmup player. But the simplicity, razor sharp controlls and the Game modes really make an addictive and compact Defender-like Shmup.
On the other hand, maybe its a bit too compact, but for a few bucks i definitly had more fun and playtime as with many full-price Cartridge games.
If you like old school Shmups Aqua Kitty UDX is a great way to have fun. However, if you want a modern Bullet Hell Shooter with tons of upgrades and unlocks, you will be disappointed.
Pro:
- Precise and simple controlls
- Great gameplay
- Nice price (depending on region and sales)
Cons:
- Not enough levels / bosses
- Difficulty may be too high for newcomers to this genre, even on easy mode
- Cats... im a dog person
Get it, try it, if you don't get hooked like myself, not much money lost ;-)
This is a pretty interesting 2D shooter, with a very solid gameplay and good ideas. It doesn't bring many additions to Switch, but its price is well adjusted and overall it's worth your time.
Aqua Kitty UDX may have an unusual premise but its core gameplay is still that of a 2D arcade-style shooter and one which does a satisfying job at that. While it could certainly be more demanding in terms of difficulty level, it offers some fun moments and its local co-op mode is certainly an asset.
I recommend playing Aqua Kitty UDX on your TV. There’s also a two-player co-op option, which is nice. In the end, I enjoyed Dreadnought Mode but found Normal/Arcade Mode to be uninspiring. If you need an underwater bullet-hell shooter, Aqua Kitty UDX should scratch that itch.
The Earth has run out of milk and cats need their nectar. Dive into your submarine to help the adorable hairballs. With excellent control and high complexity if you wish, Aqua Kitty UDX is an excellent title that you can also play with your friends.
I have had way more fun out of this than many AAA games. It is perfect for people that don't like too many buttons on a game and it is challenging. Tons of fun and a rage creator but in a keep you coming back way, rather than smash up your console way.
I have given it an 8 because it is what it is and I just don't think an arcade shooter is as much fun as some other genre's. For example if I was told I could only play one arcade style game again for the rest of my life then I wouldn't even need to consider putting Garou Mark of the Wolves before this but to put it in perspective within its genre and scope, it is pretty perfect.
It's a 2D arcade-style shooter and IMHO it isn't satisfying at all. The Levels are very small and remembers me onto the time of good old C64. You can fly from the right to the left (or vice-versa) and come after a short time back to the start. During this, you meet a lot of enemies which needed to be shoot. The enemies "steal" you comrades from the ground and you have a few seconds to save them. If to many of them are kidnapped the Game is over. During the flight you find some orbs where u can upgrade your ship and that's IT. Why this game has such good reviews are a riddle to me. Don't get me wrong, the game isn't bad, but isn't either good also (when I take Gungeon, Broforce or DeadCells to compare). Maybe the game is much better on TV and with a buddy, but when you don't get it for little money -> spare it and buy you a better one.
