DC Universe Online Switch Gameplay | E3 2019
Aug 21, 2019While all the components are very familiar, the game is well-designed to be what it is. If a certain feature is derivative, that’s because it works for the story and gameplay experience. You can tell that this game is a labor of love, and it is maintained by a team that not only loves the source material, but loves fun games as well. And since my Switch is portable, I can grind for levels wherever I go, and take the Amazing Flamefist to the levelcap and beyond.
Aug 14, 2019DC Universe Online is one of the older MMOs on the market, so while it’s benefitted from quite a few updates and DLC packs, it still looks and plays like a game on PS3. If you can look past the dated visuals and repetitive gameplay, there’s a decent amount of content to be accessed as a free player. The customisation options are deep, although the need for a premium membership does gate some of these options off. However, with a solid server, a high population of players and enough content to keep you flying around Metropolis, Gotham and beyond, this is further proof that practically any genre can work on Nintendo’s latest hardware.
Sep 3, 2019For a free-to-play MMO, DC Universe Online is more than worth getting, and depending on how much you enjoy your time with it, you may consider sinking some cash into it. Getting to interact with all the superheroes and villains within the DC Universe was right up my street, and spending my cash to buy new upgrades and gear, as well as a sidekick that followed me around Gotham, made the time I had with DC Universe Online worth it.
Aug 19, 2019It’s great, then, that DC Universe Online is completely free to jump in and try for yourself with no strings attached. There’s enough base content to help make the call of whether or not to make this your de facto console MMO experience. After all, your mileage will vary. At the end of the day, though, the fact that you can play a fully-featured MMORPG on your portable Nintendo Switch is pretty damn amazing and could well be a harbinger of similar games being available in the future.
Aug 7, 2019Fantastic Port. The fact the game on switch has its own server really levels the playing field. Great to play on the tv or on handheld,Fantastic Port. Voicework and character customization are on point. Even though it's an older game, the platform is perfect for it.… Expand

Aug 19, 2019I think the game is worth playing for 1-2 weeks. I've been wanting to play this game since 11 years ago. I had a magazine poster about it andI think the game is worth playing for 1-2 weeks. I've been wanting to play this game since 11 years ago. I had a magazine poster about it and was waiting for a long time. Then it did, 9 years ago, but it was a monthly payment, so I couldn't get it. Then it became free... but 20GB and couldn't be installed on a 20GB PS3.
Here we are 9 years later, there aren't punching noises, and I'm not sure the game has really improved at all. Punches don't really connect, and the aiming is strange. It does seem mostly grindy, but trying the new skills you've never used before is always cool.
The import to the Switch mostly just seems like a money grab, though. I don't believe the game will actually be updated. It is free, might as well try it.
Personally, maybe it was better years ago but playing it now, finally. I'm glad I didn't buy it. Also, there are still spelling mistakes and being a free player you can't really talk to people. I believe it was 5 things a day. Unless you speak in a league or group chat. I know creating a league requires pay. I'm not sure about joining one.
My brother played for 5 minutes and disliked the style and graphics and said it just wasn't fun. I couldn't really tell him it gets any better. Again, I think it could be good for 1-2 weeks.… Expand
