There’s hours of gameplay across both Kingdom Battle and now Donkey Kong Adventure, if you haven’t already bought into this new franchise. And with the added capacity to take the game on-the-go as a portable gaming experience, the value for money and Nintendo Switch buy-in here, and with Nintendo’s other key exclusives, is starting to look harder and harder to resist. At least from where we’re sitting.
A DK-lover’s delight, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: Donkey Kong Adventure condenses the best parts of the base game into a single, self-contained experience. A narrower focus on three characters enhances the strong tactical experience while keeping the goofy Mario & Rabbids charm. Musically, Kirkhope’s best-of compilation elevates DK Adventure to a must-play for Donkey Kong enthusiasts.
Extremely fun! Feels great to be able to play as DK in a new adventure, considering it's taking a long time for a "Tropical Freeze" successor to come out.
This is a super cool expansion to the game!
I especially like the new abilities, that offer even more combo possibilities than before.
Donkey Kong is a monster: can grab anything and launch it anywhere. Best combo so far: grab an enemy, launch him on a cover block that explodes, then have it bounce out of the battleground = massive damage. ez ;)
I think I'm somewhat midway on the story (played 5hrs) and I'm having solid fun.
Insta-buy if you hear me!
Donkey Kong is a pleasant expansion, with a gameplay changed and adapted to the needs of the characters. Inspired, colorful, passionate, he only sins in the repetitiveness of his enemies.
Donkey Kong Adventure is a very good add-on to the original Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle which provides plenty of fun. The XCOM-lite formula works well and you'll need a good 10h of play to get thru this DLC. A very decent offer indeed.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - Donkey Kong Adventure turns out to be much less focused on strategy this time around but more on the actual enjoyment of the story and universe with more laid back battles that are easier to approach than the rest of the full package, in no small part due to how powerful Donkey Kong and Rabbid Cranky are in battle. The base game had lots of charm with its colourful and humorous universe and this is all intact here, if not even more pleasant than ever before.
Donkey Kong Adventure feels like a lick of fresh paint on the same experiences that were provided during Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Whilst the inclusion of Donkey Kong changes the way that you strategise; Donkey Kong Adventure is rather predictable and I did get fatigued with it by the second world.
I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase. You don't get much (if any) better DLC than this.
This additional story featuring Donkey Kong is heaps of fun, and it can actually feel like a full sequel (for example, the hub world and collectibles are unique). Gameplay is similar to the main game, but there are differences, mostly due to Donkey Kong's unique abilities. I'm glad they brought Rabbid Peach along too; she's as funny here as she is in the main game.
The price is very reasonable, and I honestly cannot think of much to criticise this on (I guess if you didn't like the main game, you probably won't like this either, but if you did like the main game, you'll probably love it). THIS is how you do DLC. A must-buy for Mario + Rabbids fans.
After playing the main campaign and hearing this was a meaty DLC I took the plunge and gave it a go immediately after.
I noticed when playing they have kept true with the charm and graphics of the main game despite the different environment which I loved.
You play as Donkey Kong and Rabbid Cranky which were very unique in play styles and added a tactical play which is familiar yet fresh.
The level design and leveling up seem to be more diverse yet more focused then ever.
Downsides I would say is, you cannot choose which party members to bring to a battle. I did not expect a choice of 8, but having Diddy Kong or Rabbid Dixie would of been a perfect inclusion.
For the DLC you get about 50% more QUALITY content to the main campaign. Being about 1/3 of the price makes it a great deal, better still, try to get the Gold Edition if you can
Great execution. You can feel that the team who worked on this is passionate about the Mario franchise. Hope they get to work on more games like this, maybe a Donkey Kong game!
It's an interesting add for the main game, but it not motivate to plays like the story in the Mushroom kingdom. The places are beautiful and DK techniques are a very cool add. The context is interesting, but it's too short(5-7 hours of gameplay). For the price that costs, is cool to have and try this DLC.
This DLC feels more like a puzzle game then a strategy game, with only three characters it feels the devolpers designed every level like a fixed puzzle solution rather then choose your own line up and win with your own strategy. The overworld is charming but is cluttered with same old puzzles from the original game "move blocks and push switches for the eight millionth time" it got old really fast in the original game and they are back full force here. Other then that it's a well done dlc with even better visuals then the original with some awsome and hilarious cutscenes with great new ideas, however it's over faster then you know it and doesn't even come close to a challenge if you beat expert levels in the original game. Hate to say it but I think I it would have been better to save the time and resources and start working on proper sequel right away instead of this.
