One Strike is a truly unique, 'pure' video game. For the asking price, you get a rather fresh take on the one-on-one fighting genre and it can quickly become your go-to game when you are in need of a break between other more complex games or just need a quick burst of intensive reflex exercise. Find a group of like-minded players to play it with you and it becomes your current best, most efficient option to ruin friendships on the Switch (at least until Super Mario Party is released). Grab it without fear and then... either strike or die. There are literally no other options.

One Strike lets you take control of six different warriors as you fight to determine who is the deadliest. The simplistic yet tense gameplay will keep you on your toes. The small roster and limited variety to the modes are fun in bursts, but not for extended periods of time. That being said, One Strike is a fun fighter to pick up and play at a low cost.

Overall, regardless of a missed block or two and too many similar modes, One Strike is a fun game to play if you have friends over and want to split the Joy Cons, or even if you have five to ten minutes to spare by yourself.

This is a simple effort that is very easy to get into and to adopt. Unfortunately it's also too simple for its own good, with a visual environment that does not look better than many of the games it's based on and a lack of balance between characters that does not motivate the players to explore their features.

One Strike is mildly fun, but woefully ill equipped to provide any long term value.

One Strike will make a good addition to any gathering of friends but don't expect much life from it as a solo experience.

The game has a solo mode, multiplayer and tournament mode. Also, there is available a Hard mode AI in order to fight alone against a good rival. I recommend the game to all people who love classic 2D style combat system and have some friends in order to play with. Expand

With your only options being move, dash, attack, and block, you might be tempted to give up on this game after only a few minutes. Don't. Each of the game's fighters has hidden nuances to be discovered and mastered, making for some extremely fun, quick, and intense one-on-one duels with friends and family. If you have someone to play with, whose friendship you're willing to lose, this game is a steal. Expand

One Strike hat etwas was viele neue Spiele nicht mehr haben. Es trifft dich mit einem Schlag und macht Spaß dabei.

It's like bringing a gun to a sword fight. 4 moves, dash left, dash right, attack and block (or quick attack depending on the character). Most typical attacks require two presses one to ready, one to attack. Blocks release after a brief second. Stupidly quick game too even on arcade mode with best 5 rounds out of 9 for each competitor. Since there's not much going on, I focused on how low resolution the pixel art is. It's just a bit ugly, shallow and I didn't enjoy the experience. I bought it for 50 cents, so I got my 50 cents worth, but It would be a struggle to return. Expand
