Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate doesn't add too much to the original game, which is now one year old. It's a good edition for a very good fighting game, but it comes maybe a little bit late to the party.
Dead or Alive has always been one of my favorite fighting games and believe it or not the fan service it provides is NOT the only reason! With DOA5U Team Ninja really performed marvelously for the past-gen by creating a game that's astonishing in they eye, fun in the way it plays and serious for Pro-Gamers that want to go competitive on it. You won't find a game with better visuals on PS3/Xbox 360 and that's a fact. Gameplay remains fast paced and easy to get involved and if you want to go deeper it certainly provides.Modes, characters and costumes are A plenty giving the game a strong time appeal. Having that said i'd really wish Team Ninja would make those costume DLC either cheaper to get or stop doing them all together. FInally i would like to comment on something people tend to ignore as it's a gold standard in the ignored factors that make a fighting game: Story! I belong to those few gamers that LOVE watching a story unfold on Fighting games and i do believe that , if not a major drive, it should always be on the highest priorities. Well this game manages to do that splendidly! I really liked the story mode and can't wait to see what happens on DOA 6. All in all this is a gem in the Fighting genre and i can easily and without any qualms say, that this was the BEST fighting Game of the past year! Can't wait for next installment !
Anyone who already owns either Dead or Alive 5 or Dead or Alive 5 Plus already knows a lot of this stuff, so why am I repeating it? Because it's probably only worth buying if you don't already own it in one form or another, unless you absolutely must have the few additional characters or environments. However, if you don't already own Dead or Alive 5, this is certainly the best version of the game.
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is a more robust, refined version of Team Ninja’s work on Dead or Alive 5, providing a fighting-game package that’s a better starting point for players new to this iteration of the series. Current Dead or Alive 5 owners, however, will have to pony up the exact same amount of scratch to join in on the fun.
The extra content is neat, but given that most of it is only visual it’s difficult to justify the price point; however, beyond the layer of shiny aesthetics and ridiculous physics is a fun fighting game accessible to both casual and hardcore gamers. If you’re looking to get into the Dead Or Alive series, this would be a great place to start.
Unquestionably the definitive version of Team Ninja’s flamboyant fighter, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate repurposes the panache of its predecessor – and pops a glazed cherry on top. The gameplay mechanics are still a smidgen shallow, and there may not be enough meaningful content to woo those that have already had their fill with the original release – but franchise fans and curious newcomers will find a competent option here.
Great fighting game - interesting battle system, characters each with their own fighting style, beautiful arena, the Internet is a great, bright zapominayuschmesya characters, excellent training mode, control setting and beatiful graphic.
DoA5 Ultimate - best fighting game of PS3.
ninja and techmo deliver what the true fans want. Nuff said. Easy buy if your a DOA fan (one of the best fighting series of all time) They did what I wanted. Added Ein and Leon, added more costumes, stages, modes, features. It feels like a "solid 60 bucks" now!
Solid Dead or Alive game! The DOA series is my favorite fighting game franchise with 2 ultimate being my favorite on the Xbox. Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is a great game and looks great. Very fun and has a lot of characters added. It’s only missing 2 from last round, but is essentially the same game. Great fun game!
Very balanced fighting game with numerous unique characters, excellent graphics, and interesting combo mechanics.
For a fighting game, it's easy enough for anyone to pick it up and have some fun, but it's a very difficult game to actually master, such are the intricacies of the core mechanics. At least, the game offers an awesome tutorial and a very helpful training mode, so those mechanics are not as cryptic as they might have been otherwise.
The story mode has a very cheesy plot, and feels like a terrible action movie. Considering that normally no one plays fighting games looking for a decent plot, it's only a minor negative.
Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate
Basic but packed with content
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate put your favorite boob physics into a fighting a game,
there is an awesomely varied 29 character roster, each having 4 to 12 unlockable costumes,
24 different arenas with different levels and layers to them as well interactive objects,
your standard, vs mode, a tag mode, survival, arcade, online mode which works amazingly well when you can find an opponent, which isn’t too rare, but rare enough to be noticed..
Create your own lobbies, have people drop into your single player matches if you have the option on
as well as a story mode and a surprisingly deep training modes to help you become the very best like no one ever was.
Unfortunately, at least for my personal taste, this fighting game is more about combos than it is cool moves...
This is no mortal kombat, tekken, or dragon ball z…
this is all about pulling off combos…
juggling your opponent... which can make the fighting seem fairly repetitive and basic..
You essentially have a mid-high and low variation of a kick, block, and punch for each character...
and you take these 9 variants and turn them into combos…
Which sadly takes any spectacle out of the fighting…
Even with the intractable stages... there are just no jump out of your seat moments…
Thankfully each character feels different...
They all have their own martial arts style, and as a martial artist myself, it was quite satisfying pulling off strikes and grappling moves I was familiar with…
This satisfaction due to familiarity made of for the pretty lifeless fights…
But what isn’t lifeless is this games story mode...
It’s all about the 5th Dead or alive tournament... at least I think… but then it’s about a clone... and people from the tournament for some reason get involved...
it’s all over the place..
I have no idea what went on in the story, but it was crazy and I enjoyed it...
As you play through this impressively hefty 3 hour long story mode, you get introduced to dozens of characters…
This was my first dead or alive game, and I feel like the story mode did a perfect job of introducing these unfamiliar characters to me…
The delivery of the story though, not so much…
While I did find Dead or Alive Ultimate fairly basic...
It’s full of content for fighting fans to sink their fists into.
I give Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
a 7.5/10
