Feels like the refreshing start of a new era for Midway's fighting series. It probably won't change your mind if you're not into the genre, or even if you're into the genre but have already made up your mind about the MK series. But if you're open to the idea of more Mortal Kombat, you'll find a terrific game here.
While not an epiphany of brilliance the game revives MK and makes the series at least relevant again. And if you’re a DC fan there’s no excuse not to get this game. This is the best game to use the DC license in years.
The game is not a failure by any means, but you will find yourself asking for more or wanting to play other more fleshed out fighting games. The visuals were also a big letdown, especially the backgrounds, mainly because we've been spoiled by other visually appealing fighting games.
We had a blast playing the game here in the office, with almost everyone gathering to watch. But it is an inferior fighting game, no matter how oddly compelling it is to see two sets of fictional characters clash in such improbable circumstances.
Fun reminder of the good old times when fighting games were the most popular ones. DC heroes freshen up the world but the singleplayer campaign is dull and the dubbing is truly punishable. [Feb 2009]
Comic books are excessively violent. Mortal Kombat is excessively violent. Yet somehow the combination of the two has been watered-down to the point of irrelevance, all in the hopes of increasing the number of people who would play it.
Not on the level of "Marvel Vs. Capcom". This 'T' rated "Mortal Kombat" not only lacks gore, but content. It's missing the numerous game modes and unlockable extras found in previous MK entries. The fighting mechanics are also stripped back and simple. Overall, this feels like a blueprint for "Injustice". It features two campaigns and can be fun, but it's also a disappointment. I would rate it with a 7.3 out of 10.
I would like to say that this game is good but there are some flaws in the game I found.
1. Where is the single player single fight mode, I just want to fight anyone I want.
2. Yeah I know this is one of the old Mortal Kombat games but where is the fatalities list and the ones I used from a guide do not work.
3. Where are on Earth is Cyborg and Kabal, they are awesome characters.
But honestly I like this game and I feel bad for Midway Games because this was there final game before they filed for bankruptcy. Because of that, we never got Quan Chi, Kung Lao, Harley Quinn, and Doomsday as dlc characters. But this is remarkable a good game.
This game is not terrible.
MORTAL KOMBAT VS. DC UNIVERSE but it is a failure: The Fatality are appealing, the story let's say, the character designs look really bad and with bosses it is not difficult. I give it 3/10.
Terrible game! When you see that your favorite MK characters are going to duke it out with some of the Top Super-hero's of the DC universe, you get pretty excited. Then you play it and it turns out this was just a cool idea with a pretty decent trailer. Everything about this game is flawed, the story, if that, was poorly written. Now MK isn't known for their in-depth stories, but I feel like DC could have thrown some creative ideas that would have made this work instead of just having a bunch of loose concepts they strung together. The fighting system is classic MK, but the AI, even on easy, is brutal and spikes in difficulty randomly. I found myself stringing powers together and praying that batman wouldn't spam with more batarangs just so I could kill him. I like challenges, but this was far more than most people could handle. The graphics are nice, but the lack of fatalities takes away from the classic MK feel in a big way. All in all, I hated this game, if you want a great reboot of MK, go buy the actual game. I own that one and it's supremely better.
