So the bottom line is this: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations is the first anime game I've played in a while that doesn't deserve the distinction of "for fans only."

The different approach to the single-player story works well, and though it retreads a lot of familiar ground, it never feels like it's wasting time, maintaining a constant focus on Naruto and Sasuke.

Probably the best manga inspired game around with its fast paced and accessible gameplay, and its gigantic roster. The new Story Mode is a step back compared to Ninja Storm 2, but the smart gameplay changes make this title considerably funnier, especially online.

This is a good Naruto game and absolutely a must have for the fans. There's a lot to explore but it must be said that it's a shame there isn't a tutorial for people who are new to the franchise or haven't ever watched the anime.

The game fails to marvel the player due to the absence of boss battles, exploration and QTEs, becoming a rather repetitive beat'em'up. Fans will however be pleased in finding inside both the anime series, with exclusive content from Studio Pierrot and a lot of characters to fight with.

Even though Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations feels shallow at times and lack difficulty, it is still a very accessible fighting game that offers plenty of entertainment for Naruto fans.

More of an extension to Storm 2 than a true new episode, Generations combines characters from both eras of the anime, the original and the Shippuden one, while retaining most of what Ninja Storm was in terms of gameplay. This last, quite comprehensive episode may still be one of the best adaptations of the anime, it also shows that CyberConnect2 needs to find new wind to save its momentum.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is not what some people expected. The story mode sucks because all it is are like arcade style stories with you looking at a static image of a character then fighting. And this is the only way to get the characters you want. When you start you dont get that many characters. Almost half of the characters in the game are characters completely recycled from the last two games. You get a few new ones like all of the kages and Team Minato and a few others. You also get two new modes. Survival and tournament. Both have challenges where you fight a group of characters to get points for instance in tournament you can do a regular tournament or a challenge tournament. Where you go through different ranks like genin and chunin. This game is really fun but in this game theres a substitution bar so if you run out and get hit theres nothing you can do exept watch you get your a** beat. It charges up over time but this does take out a bit of the fun. The fighting also feels different somehow like its faster and more responsive. This game is fun but i dont think it'll feel worth the 60$ you could spend on something else. Expand

The game is a good 3D fighter but not the best.

The game is a good 3D fighter but not the best.
It is definitely a must-get for any fans of both the series of Naruto Shippuden or 3D fighters.
Firstly the combat has been improved in some aspects.
It's now faster and quicker and somewhat easier to do combos that make you feel like a boss.
But these combos are too easy to do. Anyone can do them.
That can also be a good thing as the game is easy to pick up and master.
Unleashing your ultimate jutsus in this game is somewhat lame.
In Ultimate Ninja storm you press a set of buttons to your jutsu making it more interesting.
Here you just watch as your enemy gets pounded which is completely uninteresting.
Secondly in the first game you could fight on walls! You could do more in the first game!
This mechanic although not present in Ninja Storm 2 should be present here.
It would make the gameplay much cooler.

The Story mode is also dumbed down into fights and then small animated cutscenes.
Now dont get me wrong these cutscenes are cool but they are lacking compared to the CGI cutscenes we got in the first 2 games which were freaking cool.
The Story mode is also short and slightly boring and some parts of the story are even re-iterated wrong from the original anime.

Nonetheless this is one of the best 3D fighters i've ever played and is really fun although it is quite repetitive and the online mode isnt the best out there.
Some characters dont need to be there and are just sort of useless remodels of the same character.

But to close this off Naruto Shippuden : Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations may be a let down compared to the previous games but is a Must-get for any fan of the series and for any fan of 3D fighters

Expand
