Like it or not, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the penultimate version of the game available. The gameplay has been refined, the roster is bigger and even more diverse than before, and everything else has been tightened and streamlined for online play. If you are a fan of the series, this is the version that you must own.

Capcom might be pushing their luck by releasing a Ultimate edition of a game that was already released early in the same year. However, it is this confidence that helps ease us into this timely update.

This is an incremental update with a lot of fresh paint.

That's the story of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: This is actually the game that the original should've been. If you've not played MVC3 or traded it in and want another fix, this is absolutely the best route to go. If you bought the original, how much do you love MVC? If you want more, go get it – the newcomers are great fun.

With this extended cast of highly viable characters, the only thing holding you back from picking a group of characters you enjoy is your imagination. While this hastily released upgrade definitely has some room for improvement, there is absolutely enough new content to warrant the purchase.

If you skipped MvC3 back in February (perhaps because you weren't in a rush and knew this version would come), then for $40, you're getting a very solid fighter with a huge cast and lots of attention to detail.

Although it's a good fighting game the learning curve is steep and there are not enough news in Ultimate to make it worth your money.

It's also the only fighting game I've ever played where it's really easy to pull off huge combos, I can pull off combos of around 40-100 hits, which is hugely fun and impressive. The achievements on this game are challenging and fun to recieve, and the game features Marvel and Capcom favourites such as Zero, Spiderman, Rocket raccoon and many many more. Overall this game is very fun and has cartoony, crisp visuals. Buy this game if you want to be impressed by it's epicness! Expand

I find myself in the latter category- I had both MvC3 and UMvC3 on preorder. This game does add a good roster to the MvC3 group. They are advertising that the game is more balanced, and it definitely feels that way. Overall, this game is very fun. If you don't own MvC4, this is a steal at $40. If you do, then I'd probably only recommend this game if you are really a hardcore player- there is a lot of new stuff, but it may not be worth $40 more dollars for someone who already has MvC3. Seriously I paid $60 on day one for MVC3 and now a year later I am expected to drop another $40 for some minor tweaks to the game mode and 12 new fighters. Why couldn't I just download an update for $15-$20 to my HD? I can't knock the game too much it is great game game, a bit of a button masher's paradise not a technical fighter at all, but great visuals and cool characters, alot of fast action fun if you have friends to play with locally, never did like playing fighting games online always more fun to trash talk in person :) But I give it 5 out of 10 because this is the game that should have come out last year. But no, instead of going for this option Capcom decided to go all out scumbag mode forcing us to pay $40-$50 for a completely unnecessary game. The first MvC3 was bare minimum. This second release is even more so. Why couldn't they have followed Super Street Fighter 4 and given us a reason for buying the new expansion?! you Capcom. you to hell. Expand

MVC3 was great, but that's what UMVC3 is. A better version of MVC3. Almost nothing new that couldn't have been DLC. Plus the balancing flaws of the first game that gave it a smudge are not only back, but even WORSE than before. Should've bought Mortal kombat instead, at least their upfront about their DLC, Don't get overly greedy, and fix the balancing flaws rather than ignoring them Expand
