   Amazing game, it's something like Zelda - Breath of the Dark Souls. Think that you need maybe 60-100 hours to complete the game

Play as Fenyx on a quest to save the Greek gods by taking on mythological beasts, master the legendary powers of the gods, and defeat Typhon, the deadliest Titan in Greek mythology, in an epic battle of the ages. Immortals Fenyx Rising’s settings, systems, and story are packed with references to iconic deities and legendary tales, but always with tongue planted firmly enough in cheek that it avoids coming off as self-important. All this makes for a great set-up that’s complimented by enjoyable combat, but the puzzle design across this colorful open world is somewhat disappointing. In a game about heavenly gods and fantastical monsters, the puzzles are far too simple by earthly standards. I execute a stealth attack on the Minotaur while dancing about while slashing away with my sword. I follow that up by hurling chunks of stone, and shooting off a couple arrows. It took me a few tries to defeat it, the spoils and the battles leading to my eventual victory were worth it as I scored a better piece of armor and some loot for my efforts. Open-world games often struggle to balance their serious storytelling against the actions of the player that just wants to weather the journey in their own way, but the Greek pantheon is ideal fodder and Immortals doesn’t miss the opportunity to lean into it. The idea is that our story is being told to Zeus by Prometheus, allowing the two gods to bicker and heckle as you play. Many of the game's puzzles involve the Bracers of Herakles, which let Fenyx grab and throw heavy objects. Dropping boxes on pressure plates is a common occurrence, as is firing arrows through braziers to set things on fire and rolling giant obstacles around. The puzzles draw from a somewhat shallow pool of interactions, but they reappropriate them in some clever ways. Immortals gameplay is fun, but failed to cast a spell on me and remain my mind when I wasn't playing in a way that really separate the decent games from the truly amazing ones. Most games borrow and iterate, but Immortals doesn't get that balance quite right. There isn't much distinct to think about here, and already it remains in my head not as a grand undertaking but as bits and pieces of stuff I quite enjoyed, a switch or a pressure plate resurfacing now and then. Not only is it charming, but Immortals Fenyx Rising's world is a pleasure to explore and complete fun to play. Stuffed with combat, collectibles, mysteries, puzzles, and a healthy serving of humor there's a definite bang for he price of admission. With all this in mind I can easily recommend Immortals Fenyx Rising on Xbox One to you, it just misses the mark of being exceptional.… Expand

   Great new IP with a wonderful world to travel around in and great story. Ubi nailed this aspect perfectly but, like AC, I don't believe they will be able to annualize this and get new settings to play as well. Origins was good because of the environment and well-known era. Odysseus didn't work as well and Valhalla just felt flat in terms of story/world building. But the story/world care this game.
   
   The fact that they provide different levels of difficulty is great w/o limiting you on gameplay or trophies is great. About half way through the game I moved from Normal to Story because I was tired of the grind for plants to brew potions to fight the next set of enemies. The enemies weren't hard even on Normal but the continual need to heal after the battle led to far too many fetch quests for the collectibles to brew more. It just slowed the exploration pace. Switching to Story enabled health restoration which eliminated this. Unfortunately the enemies were too easy but I didn't particularly find the combat that great anyway. Even on Normal I defeated a legendary enemy without losing any health, it was just too easy. So dropping the difficulty down so I could speed past the lackluster combat to get to the good stuff was useful. Kudos for Ubi for allowing this without penalizing me.
   
   Unfortunately the platforming is unstable. I saw all the same issues that were in AC Unity and Revelations. Sometimes you'd climb to the top of a cliff and just get stuck there. Sometimes you'd be climbing and suddenly slip down and start climbing again. It was inconsistent at best. The stamina system is a little too stingy. Constantly having to manage stamina while trying to navigate stuff just slows things down. Even after maxing things out and going into mastery I found that using powers drained stamina far too much. I could see this during combat as being useful but during exploration it just artificially limited it too much. During exploration it would have been nice to have less stamina draining.
   
   The vaults seem to be a highlight for most people and some were interesting but most were horrible to me. By the midpoint of the game I didn't bother doing vaults unless I had to. They were all over the place in terms of complexity (and the Level 1-3 rating system is useless) and often changed the rules without any real explanation. It was also bizarre that the standard traversal that works in the rest of the world doesn't work here. It just made them not worth the effort.
   
   Perhaps the worst part of the vaults is the stupid lasers. This reminds me of Relevations where lasers were added but never explained. In a mythical game it is hard to understand how this would exist in the world. It seems like a lazy addition to platforming. More often than not it just made a frustrating navigation in a vault a lot worse. When possible I skipped these sections.
   
   Speaking of which most of the puzzles are good but the navigation puzzles need work. Given the flaky traversal in the world it made the navigation puzzles difficult. Some were downright luck based even when everything was maxed out and the difficulty settings didn't impact them.
   
   The overload map also needs some work. For the most part it works well but having to climb up to each area and then manually scan for stuff is tedious. While I'd be OK with this during the early parts of the game at some point I should be given a way to be able to just show everything on the map later (like treasure maps in AC or something). For some of the trophies you have to complete all of something but if you've searched the entire map and cannot find that something then going back to each area and manually searching the entire view is painfully tedious.
   
   This game is a great start to a new IP and I'm hoping things get refined for future. Adjusting the stamina and other systems outside of combat to make it easier to explore without slowing you down and getting the platforming right would do wonders for this game. Keep the great storytelling and world and difficulty adjustments. Just make it such that I don't feel the need to drop difficulty just to get back to the exploration quicker.… Expand
