King's Bounty 2 is everything turn-based fans have been screaming out for. The traditional RPG elements are executed to near perfection. The combat is challenging and engaging from start to finish. The story is dark, heartwarming, and impactful. Put simply, this game has everything.
Kings Bounty 2 takes many good aspects of the predecessor and expands them with new mechanics and extras. Thanks to differences in altitude and obstacles, the fights are now much more tactical, but also not 100% balanced.
The panning of this game is way over the top. Overall it's a fun game, it's just not a carbon copy of the prior games. To me the game's ambiance is a bit like a tactical Fable. It's a decent length and has good replay value. It holds my interest and the battles are interesting. My real score is an 8 but like is so common here the negatives can be a bit much so I'm giving it a 10 to compensate. In my opinion it's worth a play. Give it a try.
Thank you guys! King's Bounty 2 even more beautiful on PC! Already played on Xbox One for 40 hours, even before hot-fixes the experience was adorable. And now is good time to another journey..with Paladin !)))
King’s Bounty 2 is an interesting and tactical challenging RPG for everyone who doesn’t need pristine visuals and who can overlook the flaws in game design and balancing.
King's Bounty II offers numerous options to keep you playing its 40-hour campaign. Unfortunately, it suffers from questionable design, janky movement while exploring, and confusing alignment system outcomes. It can be a treat for long-time fans, but it's also rough around the edges.
Drastic changes to gameplay can be good, as proven by God of War. Unfortunately, King's Bounty 2 turns out merely an underwhelming experiment. In the past, we got a series of good tactical RPGs focused on combat, seasoned with some character building. Right now, we get a subpar imitation of The Witcher 3, where battles are just a minor addition.
King's Bounty II is composed of many traditional elements fused together in an unconventional way. Rather than melted it would be better to say stuck on top of each other. The amalgam of characteristics and genres is completely disorganized, confused, as if it were the mixture of randomly selected market trends. Taken individually, not all the constituent elements of the game are mediocre, indeed it is quite possible to be captured by the settings or by the combat system. But what is missing is the connection work: the most important operation in a complex product such as a video game. What distinguishes a good video game from a bad one is not the sum of the parts, it is how these parts interact with each other, how they contribute to the realization of a common goal.
Just like many of its undead characters, King’s Bounty 2 fails to revive a venerable franchise due to its lack of innovation, archaic design decisions, and grindy backtracking.
As someone who has not played the previous games in the King's Bounty series, I think it is a very below average game to evaluate without making comparisons with them. Although the graphics and animations seem far behind the period it came out, there is a very serious optimization problem, but even if you turn the graphics to the lowest, there are persistent FPS drops. Everything else is pretty generic and not very redeeming. In fact, the more details you dig into the game, the more flaws you keep finding. The main story doesn't seem interesting at all and the dialog and voice acting are pretty mediocre. The tedious fetch quests that follow only make things worse. To make it less obvious that the game is a walking simulator, the developers have added a horse to ride, but the riding mechanics are so bad that it makes you wonder if it would have been better if there were none. I've seen a similarly terrible horse-riding mechanic before in 2007's Two Worlds. In that game, our horse moved like a crazy who was literally uncontrollable. But it's not acceptable for a game released in 2021 to have the same terrible mechanics as a game released in 2007.
