As Belle, you must seek out the three crucial ingredients of the Walpurgisnacht Brew, which means investigating the school's colorful 2D landscapes in a quest that combines elements of nonlinear, exploration-based action-platformers and classic object-oriented adventures. As you traverse the labyrinthine school's catacombs, laboratories, dungeons, and forests, you'll use everything from a sledgehammer to a fish head to solve numerous puzzles. And when you aren't testing your grey matter, you'll put your wand to use against a variety of impressively animated enemies, including spooky spiders, pesky plants, and rambunctious rodents. Can your mind and magic overcome the myriad mysteries, or will this quest spell defeat for the unfortunate Belle? [Microsoft] Expand

It’s lighthearted tone and lovable art style works in tandem with clever puzzles to create an experience that any gamer can enjoy. Every new item had me either laughing at the ridiculousness of it or the sheer absurdity of how many items I had.

his is a tight platforming adventure that overflows with whimsy and charm, never overstaying its welcome. Fans of the genre (and Sega platformers of old) will find Belle and her world bewitching.

Mystik Belle may not be very long or have a hidden, mirrored, upside down castle but that doesn't mean it has failed in any way. Of course, I wish it was longer; I feel that way about most games I like. I can't help but want more of a good thing, and that is definitely what this is, a good thing. Sure, it could have been harder or had more rooms to explore or even a more in-depth story, but it doesn't need all that. The folks at Last Dimension did something that is harder than I think most people realize. They delivered a concise, tightly wrapped package that had almost everything you could want from a Metroidvania-like game. I don't think I can ask for much more than that.

Unfortunately in terms of length it’s a littleAs far as Metroidvania style games go Mystik Belle is a pretty decent addition to the genre. Unfortunately in terms of length it’s a little short so don’t expect to have hours and hours with this game, but the content that is here has been done really well. The game never tries to be too complicated, and that is evident with the simple and responsive controls. Having simple easy to play controls makes you be able to focus on the puzzles and the action taking place on screen. The puzzles in the game are very cleverly designed and require some thought at times, which makes the game more fun. I was however a little disappointed with the platforming and combat elements. The combat just feels generic and nothing really stood out, which made fighting very tedious at times. They do however do a good job with the level-up system, and they make it feel very rewarding because there are a number of abilities for you to unlock and each ability improves you somewhat. The story in the game was good and it did a good job of enhancing the gameplay, but unfortunately once you complete the game there is no reason for you to return, which is a shame. The presentation side of the game is brilliant. The pixel art style makes the game come alive, and does a wonderful job of making you connect with the charming characters. All in all Mystik Belle may not be the perfect Metroidvania style game, but it has a number of things going for it. It’s managed to implement creative puzzles into an adventure that keeps you interested throughout, which is great. It does suffer with a few problems here and there, but it combats them with a decent story and an adventure worth taking part in. If you like games with a very retro feel then you will love Mystik Belle, and it gets a recommendation from me. Expand
