Outer Wilds is easily my game of the year thus far, and continues to move up the list of my personal favorite games of all time. It’s an experience I genuinely cannot stop thinking about, managing to encompass everything I love about the adventure gaming genre and the smart sci-fi musings of my all-time favorite authors. The few negatives brought on by the time loop at the game’s core are universally outweighed by the pioneering spirit cultivated throughout. I urge you to seek out Outer Wilds if you can, if only to try out what is surely one of the greatest adventure games ever created.

Outer Wilds is well worth checking out. It’s got an intriguing hook and even better execution, and it’s one of the more inventive games you’re likely to play this year.

Forget about the space battles and hours poured into crafting. Outer Wilds redefines what exploration means in a video game. Smart writing and ingenious game-design, it’s a vibrant call to follow your own curiosity.

Outer Wilds It is one of the great sleepers of 2019, without any doubt. An space opera to recommend for its ingenious proposal and beautiful world, but maybe someone find too much effort needed to understand how their narrative and gameplay works.

One of the best exploration games ever, thanks to a small but perfectly crafted setting. [Issue#179, p.85]

Given that Outer Wilds is all about discovering the sort of phenomena that once astonished and befuddled an advanced alien civilization, it seems right that I should have been unsettled by it at first.

Enjoying Outer Wilds depends on your willingness to read guides and discuss the game online. Otherwise, you'll probably feel like you're regularly hitting your head on a brick wall as you try to make just an inch of progress.

A truly special experience. Go in as blind as you can, and stick with it until the full solar system opens up to you.

I was prettyThis game had been on my to play list for a while and I recently got Game pass and saw it there so I decided to finally play it. I was pretty quickly enthralled by this game. My roommate watched me play through it and helped me through some of the hardest puzzles. We both agree that this is one of the best if not the best games of 2019. The atmosphere of the game created by the music and the sense of urgency set by the 22 minute time limit really add something great. All the music is calming and beautiful but you know you're on the clock and that combo is really surreal to me. Once you hear the music letting you know you're almost out of time it becomes a mad dash to finish what you're doing. The story is so fun to uncover following threads of leads across the solar system and filling out your ships clue tree feels so good and gives you a sense of accomplishment. I like that the game doesn't hold your hand and really makes you use your head. The whole time I was enjoying learning new things even though I didn't know at all what I was trying to uncover or accomplish. That is amazing to me and I wish it was a theme more represented in games. The games doesn't tell you "Oh you gotta do this this and this to win the game, main objective over here". You have to uncover the story and figure out your purpose yourself and I loved every minute of it. I liked this game so much that after I played through on the Game pass I went back and bought it out right. I thought that this group did such a good job on this game I needed to give them my money directly. This may seem dumb considering the only flaw with this game in my mind is that there is no replay-ability (unless you are a speed runner). Which is why I decided to go 9 instead of 10 only because I can't induce specific amnesia on myself so I can experience it all over again. Expand

It takes me back to the moments I sat in my rickety space ship and watched the sun engulf everything there is. It takes me back to the adventures hopping between planets, getting slingshotted by a planets gravity as I run out of fuel and drift into space. I feel the feelings I felt as I dove the depths of an ocean planet, as I explored the unknown, as a cave fills with sand, as I discovered the secrets of the universe. This game is perfect. Expand
