The changes have been a long time coming, but the final result may well have given us one of the best horror titles we are likely to see this year…finally bringing the horror back to Resident Evil.

Despite its radical switch to first person view, Resident Evil 7 biohazard represents a real comeback to the series' origins, with a disturbing and scary atmosphere, great story and characters and a thrilling gameplay mixing exploration, puzzle solving and combat. An awesome new beginning for Capcom's franchise.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is a reminiscent of the old school survival horror with some modern mechanics from title like Outlast. The plot is a little 'stereotypical, but the game has seductive sounds and atmosphere.

Resident Evil 7 seems to us an indispensable game if you like the adventures with action and puzzles, but with a great inconvenience: IT IS SO SCARY. Keeps you heartbroken for hours and that is everything that we wanted from this title. Stay away from the prejudices you had about this game of the Resident Evil saga, because you will love it without a doubt.

Resident Evil 7 feels as terrifying as it does modern, all while returning the series to its roots. It hits some familiar bumps along the way, but this is the best this series has felt in years.

Even though Resident Evil 7 Biohazard ditches the third person point of view to a first person and a more intimate story, it does an amazing job of bringing back its roots which made the series so successful. The extraordinary work that was done in the different game departments such as story telling, audio, gameplay and graphics will keep me from sleeping at night and remembering it as a great experience.

Resident Evil 7 grounds itself in elements that made the original great while still indulging in a risky new shift in style that both helps and hurts the beloved formula in equal measure. But it’s also the closest a numbered sequel has come to recapturing Resident Evil’s slow, but thrilling and atmospheric adventure game roots in a while — a welcome return that I truly hope to see more of in the future.

Photorealistic rendering transports the player into an entirely new realm within the RE universe. Classic puzzle solving combined with stealthy bone chilling progression makes this release #1 on my list.

The switch from a third person to a first person perspective immerses the player in its environments, and the story being told. With limited inventory making a return, item management becomes a key factor as the game progresses and more items become available for the player to obtain. A new protagonist, who has no experience with the kinds of situations he's placed in, and who also lacks any sort of special training like our regular heroes, brings about heavy feelings of vulnerability as he's pitted against the sadistic Baker family. The plot and progression is well paced, and in the end, is able to connect with the overall narrative of the franchise. "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is a definite masterpiece, and one worth experiencing. Expand

It's not as good as the first RE's, but it's up there. The endings were meh, but the story overall was again, outstanding. Jack Baker, Ethan, Clancy, Mia, they're all good characters that I love. But I do warn you, this game does make you feel sick after a while. I still don't know what caused it though. Also, the graphics are..*Ahem*...Teriibl--Not the greatest for 2017. That's all I have to say. Get tp playin! Expand

Full blown horror, not action. Resident Evil 7 brings the horror back with it's creepy atmosphere, and the crazy Baker family. The gameplay is simple yet fun there is a block attack to reduce damage from enemies and good degree of weapons to protect yourself from the horrors of the Backer estate. As expected you have limited resources and can only take a few hits before dying unless you block. The story is interesting with this black gross mold that creates creatures called The Molded. Expand

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" represents a course correction for the series after the action heavy RE 6 received polarizing reviews. Featuring"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" represents a course correction for the series after the action heavy RE 6 received polarizing reviews. Featuring a first-person perspective, it blends many elements of the original RE with gameplay from "Outlast" and "Bioshock". Cinematically, the game borrows most notably from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", but "The Blair Witch Project" and "Saw" are also obvious inspirations. The developer's decision to break away from the main RE mythology and tell a stand alone tale is a good one. The zombies, evil corporations and genetically engineered monsters that have defined the RE universe have been replaced with a Southern Gothic scenario right out of "American Horror Story".

The game begins a lot like "Silent Hill 2" with main character Ethan receiving a message from his missing wife that leads him to a Louisiana plantation. Once he arrives there, he meets a psychotic hillbilly family that possesses evil supernatural powers. However, as Ethan discovers, nothing is what it seems. Structurally, RE 7 recalls the original "Resident Evil" with a house filled with locked doors and puzzles. The storage box and weapons from RE 1 also make a return. But the influence of recent horror titles like "F.E.A.R." and "Alien: Isolation" are also apparent in the form of jump scare moments and hiding sections.

At 10 hours long, "Resident Evil 7" isn't a lengthy experience, but it is a very absorbing one. While not quite a masterpiece, this is still one of the best entries in the 20-year old franchise. By combining the original concept of survival horror with today's modern style of first-person horror, it revamps the series once again in a new and exciting way. I'd rate it with an 8.5 out of 10.
