Yes, it’s an exploitative sort of filmmaking, but Mr. Zarcoff keeps it fairly restrained for most of the way. You know things will end badly for someone, and perhaps everyone. The ominousness just keeps building.

Wow this is actually a pretty good movie. I discovered it by chance on Plex platform. Very good story, very good directing, very good camera, very very good actors. I was fully immersed into the movie from beginning to the end. Very positively surprised . This movie is better than 95% of AAA movies I watch.

Neville Archambault everyone. The real star of the show.
If I have to be honest, I've never seen anyone like him before. Not wanting to sound rude when it comes to appearance, but he looks like a mutant, and there's no other way of describing it. He plays the creepy landlord very well.
The movie itself is...average. The movie never seems to go away. And why do I feel there was more than 13 cameras.

Though the movie's consistently watchable, it's rarely grabby, aside from a few strong jump-scares.
13 Cameras plays as a tease, not sexual or graphically violent enough to count as exploitation, not suspenseful enough to get by. And with this plot, this “hidden camera” gimmick, without exploitation, it’s nothing.
Mild schadenfreude aside, however, the film inspires almost no feeling at all — even the Friday the 13th movies bother giving the bad guy a backstory.
Alternately both repetitive and repulsive, this home-invasion thriller never quite hits its stride.
Clichés, clichés, clichés! That's how many of them you're going to find in 13 Cameras, but there should be a 14th camera (Me) so I can quickly judge on how boring this horror flick is.

There's always that fine line between "yellow" and "red" on a Metacritic review... and if it weren't for the atrocious acting (by pretty much anyone besides the main character/creep), this would have been a yellow. But the first 40 minutes of 13 cameras almost insist red is the clear choice here. Anyway, let's talk about the pros... the creep factor is well-portrayed, again only thanks to the lead actor. There were even a few laughs to be had, and quite a bit of tension towards the end. Bag all that up with an ending that smacks you upside the head, and you actually think for a moment... hey. This might be something special.
Then you try to sit through the first 40 minutes again, and realize this would have been better off as a short film.

This was one of the grossest, most violating movies I've ever seen with absolutely no payoff. There is just a disgusting guy who gets to violate women and is never caught or held accountable. I want to take a shower but now showers are ruined for me after this.
