1922 is a ghastly slow burner, not the kind where nothing happens until the last ten minutes, but rather the kind that layers minor incident upon minor incident until they tally up to something major.

It helps that Hilditch has Jane in the central role. Along with Carla Gugino’s turn in Gerald’s Game, Netflix has two of the strongest performances in any King adaptation to date.

At its core this is very much a rendition of the classic Poe story called A Tell Tale Heart which, honestly, is quite appropriate seeing that King is this generation’s Edgar Allen Poe. Like Poe, King’s tales can and will continue to haunt us for centuries to come well after his own demise. In this case, the beating heart is replaced by rats and they sure make themselves known. Actually a pretty good movie. The acting, the pacing, the photography, the music, etc. There is not a single low note in this movie. Will start following this director.

Egyik legjobban sikerült King-adaptáció. A Netflix sorozatok/filmek alapból nagyon jól teljesítenek és ez is "kötelező megnézni" kategóriába tartozik. Az "It" és a "Gerald’s Game" adaptációk mellett ezt se hagyjátok ki.

Should say if I could give this a 5.5 rather than a full 5 or 6 then I would. The story of this movie is bland and forgettable, the basic plot of killing someone and being consumed by visual representations of guilt is done to death (haha) and was not innovated upon much here. I did like the story of the son but the film would have been far more interesting if that plot were focused on more. Although the designs of certain '''hauntings''' are pretty impressive and the acting definitely has talent behind it, I'm sure this tale would have been better kept in the books.

I thought the acting was great, and they did a great job in the props department with really making it look like 1922 without worrying about a budget. If there was a tight budget, it sure fooled me! That being said, the movie felt a bit tired and draggy at times, which ultimately left ME feeling tired by the end.
